Elements organiser won't play AVI files

Hello, I just installed a payed version of adobe elements on my Mac. With the organiser  I can't play AVI files. Can you tell me how I can correct this?

I use Mac OS Sonoma and my quick player is version 10.5

Please help!

Sound like you may not have the correct codec installed.   

Does anything (any app) play any of the avi files in question?

If not: it's a relatively easy fix:  download and install the codec needed.   Think of a codec as a small program that compresses and decompresses videos quickly.

I have read about a missing codec, but which codec exactly I have to install? On my mac several programs I use all play the AVI files without any problem. So are there more AVI codecs in the world and which one I'm missing

That's a tuff call when you have other apps that can play avi files.    Im sure some folks who are much smarter with sonoma than I am will offer a solution in the next day or two.

In looking up possibel solutions i've come across a couple of things.

1.  The person had two video cards.
