Hi,
I recently updated to premiere / photoshop 2023, then I found the element organizer homescreen.
I need to click again to access photoshop or element after this screen. It is annoying. I need to click twice to get the photoshop or premiere.
Moreover I discovered after this element organizer I cannot use windown organizer function of (1) move to (2) copy to (3) Delete, and (4) Rename. these area of windows organizer icons became grey. I cannot use them. It seems adobe want us to use the element organizer for these functions.
I have no interest to use the element organizer, I know how to use the windows organizer for these functions. So I have to use another PC (which no adobe product) for deleting / renaming SD files. It is totally annoying.
I searched everwhere how to disable this element organizer. But no answer for disabling element organizer. Also the AI chat does not help at all. They only give me the same repeating answer. Just waste of time.
Please help me.

You can create a desktop shortcut to the Editor by right-clicking on the PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe file (found in the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 2023 folder) and selecting Send to>Desktop; or pin the taskbar icon when you have the Editor open (right-click on the taskbar icon and choose to pin it). You can then open the Editor from either the Desktop or the Taskbar.
I seriously doubt that the Organizer has affected your ability to manage your files in Windows File Explorer which is what I assume you are calling the Windows Organizer. If I have misunderstood you, please post a screenshot of what you are talking about when you say windows organizer icons became grey.

Thank you so much for let me know how to skip the elements organizer home screen. It worked, and at least, I am happy with it. But the Windows file organizer still not work. It seems this Element Organizer is over taking the windows file organizer.
I want to show the screen shots of these problems. (see attached)
I have the Adobe Elements 15, and have been using it for long time. I recently bought a now laptop for traveling, so I want to install the Premiere Elements 15 but I could not find the CD. So I thought maybe it is a good idea to buy the new upgraded Adobe Elements 2023. Because it says it is much faster than older version.
However this Elements organizer problem, now I cannot use the new laptop because I need to use that laptop's windors file organizer to manage files and format SD cards. I want return this Elements 2023 and get the refund, but the time to return had already been expired.
In addition to that, the background color of 2023 is worse. the old Elements 15's background color is much nicer than the new Elements 2023.
Adobe asks if I recommend this product to other people, absolutely not. I have some friends want to be a Youtuber but I cannot recommend this product. Because it is annoying! I cannot tell them that in order to use this product you also have to master the Element organizer too. In addition to that now you cannot use the Windows file organizer because of Adobe Element 2023 is installed in your PC.
I don't understand why they did it. Give me the choice whether if I want to use the Elements organizer or not. But I cannot find any choice selection section.

Let's be clear, there is no harm in ignoring the organizer and using only the Windows Explorer as your "organizer". Just follow the very old solution given by Greg (known since PSE11...) Go once in the PSE organizer and disable all automatic options and when saving files from the editor, don't tick the options to register in the organizer.
However, you'll lose all the benefits of the organizer, which can do what you are used to do in the Windows Explorer and much more, especially in terms of searching and grouping.

It seems you have misunderstood the above restrictions. It's repeated everywhere that the golden rule for the organizer is to never use the Windows Explorer to move, delete or rename. First, that does not change anything in the Explorer and does not trouble you if you don't use the Organizer. It's simply that if you are using two cataloguing systems, what you do in one is ignored by the other. Simple basic truth. That's equally true if you are using two distinct organizer catalogs to manage the same files, if you are using the organizer and Lightroom, even competiting asset managers...
So, you are right, Adobe want you to be happy with the organizer but it's your choice.

Thank you for your advice but I want to use the Windows file organizer.
Because I have been using it for long time and I know how to use it.
I don't want to use any other program to organize files.

As I said earlier, there is no harm to use only the Windows Explorer as your personal organizer. A lot of users are happy with that and they have none of the problems you are showing with the Windows organizer. They are all using the solution of a shortcut on their desktop and they are not using the organizer downloader, they use only the Explorer to download the files from the SD card.
The screenshot you are showing is the way the organizer lets you select the files you want to import, which means both to download them to your computer and to register and document them in the catalog database. For that selection task, the organizer displays directly the Windows Explorer view. Keep in mind that the purpose is only for selecting the files, not for other tasks you could ask for if you were in the Explorer outside of the PSE downloader.
The logical way to import photos from a card reader is to plug in the card reader or to browse the Explorer view for the DCIM folder of your reader. It seems that in your case the Windows action associated with plugging in the card reader is to open the Organizer downloader instead of the normal downloading function of the organizer. Could you confirm if that is your problem? That would help other volunteers to guide you with the Windows process to change that default action.

Thank you very much for your advice.
I don't need the Element Organizer to catalogue my photos. I have "many" external hard disks and I make folders, rename them, and cataloue myself. So I don't like anything automtic. I can do better than automatic.

I don't do anything automatic with the organizer. I also manage many hard disks.
What I don't understand in your previous post is how you can't get the Windows Explorer (not an Organizer) to select your files, move, delete or rename files. Your purpose being to perform a preliminary 'culling' of your downloads, Windows can indeed perform those tasks very well. Remember that you are no longer using the Elements Organizer, You can select your batches of files and with a simple right click you have access to all the commands of the Explorer. I simply ignore the 'Organize' button of the explorer which can't do anything for your purpose.

Hi, Thank you for your response.
I tried and right clicked some photos on SD card.
It only shows the "copy" function, "no delete" "no rename".
It does not let me select the file name so that I cannot rename.
It seems the Adobe element is taking over the Windows Organize functions on SD card,

Hi Kimi,
When I plug in my card reader with my SD card, that opens the Explorer view of Windows and I can navigate to the card reader and its DCIM folder where all the photos are selectable and can be moved where I want on my computer;
I suspect you may be right in thinking that the plug in action of the card reader is still incorrectly linked to the PSE Organizer.

As Michel has suggested, I believe your Windows OS Settings are set to open the Elements Organizer when you insert a memory card and/or external drive. If you go to Windows Settings>Bluetooth and Devices>Autoplay, you can control what happens when these events occur. Here is a screenshot from Windows 11. The AutoPlay setting may be a little different in Win 10.

Sorry for the late response.
I changed bluetooth autoplay, and found the Adobe Elements Organizer is not poping up. That is great. But when I selected some files, I still cannot delete or rename files. The menu section of Windows Organize section are all grey except "copy to".
Why I want to use Windows Exlore for copying to is I want to delete certain files before copy /moving them to the external hard discks. Specifically GoPro files on SD cards have three types of files. If it automatically copy / transfer them, it takes 1 hour. But if I delete the half of unnecessary files before copying them it takes only 30 minutes. And more reasons, for instance change the names before copying. etc.
Anyway thank you very much for your advice, but somehow the menu section of Windows Organize section are still all grey except "copy to". sad
