Luminar Neo as a plugin for PSE 2024

Explorer ,
Apr 27, 2024 Apr 27, 2024

I have been using Luminar Neo as a plugin with PSE2024 and, until Luminar's latest update it worked well.

Since the update when I try to use Neo as a plugin I get a Windows error message which says 'Windows cannot find 'bad' make sure you have typed the name correctly and then try again'.

I wondered if anyone has a similar problem and if anyone has found a solution.

No problem here using the latest update of Neo on a Windows 11 machine.

In Neo, try using the File>Install Plug-ins command.

@foxy45 you haven't told us what method of copying files you have tried.

You need to look for a file named luminarneo.8bf and copy it into the following folder:

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 2024\Plug-Ins

The file probably already exists in the following folder for Elements 2018:

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 2018\Plug-Ins

I just updated Luminar Neo to the latest version.  You may want to do that before copying the plug-in file.

I had the same thing even though I had installed Neo as a plug-in update when opeining it from Lightroom. I had to uninstall and then reinstall Neo Photoshop plug-in (through the File>Install Plug-ins command in Neo) and then it worked.

I had exactly the same problem. I had to uninstall and then reinstall Neo Photoshop plug-in (through the File>Install Plug-ins command in Neo). Problem solved! 🙂 Extreme Jellyman's hints below were the key - thanks!

I had Elements 2018 and had added Luminar Neo as a plugin with no problems. It appeared under Filters. I then upgraded to Elements 2024, did the same procedure to add the plug in but it doesn't appear under Filters and I can't use it. Everyone else says re-installing does the trick but, sadly, not in my case. I 've read up on the web and tried various methods of copying files which hasn't worked either. Then I spotted that Elements ame with the Luminar Neo already installed. That would have been good but it's not in my version. I'm running Windows 11. Anybody got any more ideas please?

TIA

@foxy45 , I just noticed that the latest Photoshop plugin file for Neo is slightly larger than the older one.  You should find it at:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC\

Hi

Sorry for the delay.

I wanted to check out the steps Id taken previously before getting back to you. I'd downloaded a video from chatGPT by Clever Photographer which hadn't worked. I'd intended writing down the steps so you may have seen where i was going wrong. But, low and behold, it worked this time!! Very annoying when that happens, isn't it. Anyway, I'm up and running now so thanks for your interest.

Have a good day.

Regards

Tony
