MacOS Sonoma 14.4 Photoshop Elements 2023 and 2024 crashes if clicking on Settings

Explorer ,
Mar 11, 2024 Mar 11, 2024

HI!

I just stumbled over a odd problem another user mentioned in the Apple comunity.

Machines: Macbook 14 M3 + MacBook 16 M3

OS: MacOS Sonoma 14.4

Photoshop Elements 2023 and 2024

2003 was installed 2023/03 and worked flawless until i discovered the bug today.
Uninstalled 2023 with Adobe Uninstall software and installed 2024 version and same happen, again on both MacBooks.

Either Version works as supposed, except:
When i click on Settings (or how it's called in non German versions) (top bar menu point, all right side) then Photoshop Elemet crashes immediately and show a crash report.

This happen immediately when clicking on either of the several Settings to choose from.

Not sure if this is a German Language version problem or happen under other languages too.

Adobe support suggested to create a test user with admin rights to check if same occures.
I did that and same happen, PS E immediately crash/close after clicking on one of the several settings to choose from.

Anyone with same problem and/or any suggestions how to solve that issue?

Thanks in advance and have a great day!

Chris

I just installed Sonoma 14.5 and unfortunately Photoshop Elements 2023 still crash immediately same way as before by clicking on one of the settings.

I hoped the 14.5 update will fix this issue, but it does not for PS E 2023.

As i canceled the upgrade to PS E 2024 i can't verify will happen on PS E 2024

I also just updated to Sonoma 14.5 and unfortunately I can confirm that the issue is also still with my PS Elements 2024. When I go to setting, it immediately crashes.

Workaround from Adobe:

The workaround would be to change the language for Photoshop Elements 2024 editor to English US. Please follow the below steps:
1. Please open system settings> click General in the sidebar, then click Language & Region on the right. (You may need to scroll down.)
2. Go to Applications, select Photoshop Elements 2024> Support Files> PSE editor
3. Choose a language for an app: Click the Add button, choose an app and a language from the pop-up menus, then click Add.

It is my understanding that Adobe is working on a fix.  I have no information about when it will be released.  As with all bug fixes, the engineers need to make sure that the fix doesn't break something else.

I should also add that since this particular problem only affects Macs, there may need to be some cooperation between Apple and Adobe.  This probably adds to the time necessary to publish a fix.

Regrettable that Adobe did not distribute this information more widely after 2 and a half months of problems ...

Seems an 2024.3 update has been released that is supposed to fix the crash issues when accessing Settings in Photoshop Elements 2024.

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/release-note/update.html?mv=product&mv2=pse

Unfortunately, no update for Photoshop Elements 2023 as of yet, so i guess the Workaround from Adobe

is still needed for the 2023 version.
