Opening existing files

New Here ,
Feb 14, 2017 Feb 14, 2017

I have just upgraded to Photoshop Elements 15.  I am used to being able to right click on the file and being able to open the file by using the "open using" option.  This does not work when using Photoshop Elements for some reason; all it does is open Photoshop Elements with a blank screen - so I have to then use the Open option within the Programme.

Any Ideas please?

Which OS are you working on?

Did you purchase Photoshop Elements from MAC or Windows App Store?

Also, is this issue happening for all the file formats or for some specific files?

Thanks,
Anwesha

Anwesha

I am on Windows 10 and downloaded the programme direct from the Adobe "shop".  I have had the fault with .jpeg / .png / .bmp / .tif

Thanks

Hugh

Make sure you are selecting the editor application.

Right-click on an image and choose:

Open with >> Choose another app

Select Photoshop Elements 15 Editor – see image below

You may need to drag the scroll bar to see the full list. If you still can’t find the Editor click More apps

If necessary click: Look for another app on this PC

Then navigate to:

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 15

Select: PhotoshopElementsEditor

Click Open

Thank you very much indeed for your response; however, the process you describe is exactly what I did. However, when Photoshop Elements then started up all I got was a blank screen.  However I could then use the open option and browse to find the file and open it and work on it.  With previous versions I had set up all image files to be opened by default by Photoshop Elements.

I chose Photoshop Elements 15 from the drop down list - after a slight delay Photoshop Elements started properly but did NOT open the file - I just got a blank screen.  Ah well I shall just have to start the programme and browse for what I want to open (based on the fact that you have it working)

Thanks any way

Hugh

By the way, in case the problem was not with Photoshop Elements I tried opening the images with some of the other programmes offered and they all worked fine.

Thanks

Hugh
