Problem colour matching prints to screen with Photoshop Elements 2025

New Here ,

Prints with my Epson XP-625 printer do not match the image on my monitor.  Images are edited in Elements 2025 using sRGB IEC61966-2.1 colour profile and the the monitor is calibrated with SpyderX.  The Elements colour management for prints is set to "managed by printer" with rendering set to "Perceptual" using the "Glossy Photo Paper" profile as the paper I use is not made my Epson.

A print simulation in SpyderX shows the colours in Elements and the SpyderX print simulation to be pretty close.  However, when I do a print preview there is a colour shift and the print image is darker.  The print preview image is pretty close to what is actually printed (see attached screen dump).

I have tried various brands of paper and also tried using Photoshop to to control the printer selecting the printer colour calibration profile that matches Glossy Photo Paper.  No matter what I do the colour and density of all the prints are all very close to one another and show the same colour and density shift.

There is a good colour match and print density between screen and print when printing documents with colour graphic.

I am at a loss as to what is causing the issue and what else to try to resolve it.  I would be grateful for any help the community can provide in sorting this problem.

Thank you.

The Elements colour management for prints is set to "managed by printer"

You must print from the Editor and this should be set to Magange by Elemnts

I have 2 Epson printers, and use Epson ink  cartridges. I always print via the editor, as the print engines in editor & organizer are not the same. Under Edit>color settings I have checked "No Color Management" and have the printer manage colors. The point is not to have both PSE & printer manage colors. As an experiment, reverse these settings to see if that makes a difference.

Thanks for both replies.  Firstly, to clarify one point: I always print from the PE advanced editor mode.

I have tried both the proposed solutions. Neither improves the quality of the print.  However, while hatstead's solution to select 'No Colour Management under Edit>color settings resulted in the preview matching the image image on screen in both colour and density, the print was almost identical to results obtained in previous attempts when printing on Epson glossy paper.  So, unfortunately, no closer a solution: LH image PE - RH image print preview.Screenshot 2024-12-15 105949.jpg

The quality of your paper can effect this:  is is el cheap 20lb paper from wal mart, or is it nice 28 pound paper (The paper weight is how much 500 sheets of that paper weights, higher weight is higher quality. )

Paper is Epson premium glossy photo paper for ink jet printers 255g/m2 - don't know what that is in old money.  I've also tried a variety of other glosy photo papers for injet printers - all around 250g/m2 - the differences in colour and density of the prints are marginal although the print on the Epson paper is definately lighter and closer to what I see on the Spyder-X calibrated screen.

What is the resolution of these files? The rule of thumb for printing is in the 240-300 px/in range.

If you print the same files from another app, what happens?

Have you tried printing via another printer or a commercial kiosk?

The prints are made at 300 pixels/in according to PE.  I haven't tried printing from another app as as I only have the default Windows photo app that apparently doesn't have ICM colour control.  I have not tried printing these set of photos from a commercial kiosk and will try this in the New Year.  However, I have made a photobook using for my son with photos that have the same resolution and colour correction using a commercial kiosk. These all printed with colour balance and density that appeared identical to the images on screen.  I'm begining to wonder whether it is an issue with the printer after all.
