PSE9 Problem Opening Photo in Editor from Organiser

Hi all,

I have been using Photoshop Elements 9 without any problems for several years, currently with Windows 10 but also with earlier versions of Windows. It does all that I need so I see no need to upgrade to a later version. However recently as problem has arisen.

When I use Control-I to open a photo in the Editor, the Editor workspace opens but the photo does not open.  However if the photo is one that has been previously edited, even some days or even weeks earlier, it will open in the Editor.

Using the various Fix options in the Organiser has the same result, i.e. they don’t work either.

I have uninstalled and re-installed PSE9 twice, once from my original disc and again using a new download from Adobe, with no effect.

Any suggestions on how to fix the problem, please?

Thanks,

Robert

Hi Robert,

Suggest you to clean the preferences and then try. Do the following for the same:

1. Close the application if it is already launched.

2. Hold Ctrl+Shift+Alt together and launch the application. (keep holding till you get a prompt)

3. A dialog asking to Restore the preferences would appear. Click Yes/OK to it.

4. Now when application launches, try your workflow and see if it works fine.

Do these steps separately for both Organizer and Editor.

Thanks.

Preferences are some user settings which application remembers and saves. Deleting them have no effect on any of your saved images.

To clean the preferences, please follow the steps I mentioned in my last post.
