Webp plugin for Mac

Can someone please tell me where to download a plug in for Elements 2024 that will open webp images?

Also, once I download it, what folder should it be put in to be recognized by PS Elements?

Download the WebPShop_0_4_2_Mac_Universal.zip from here.

It should then be in your Downloads folder.

If the WebPShop_0_4_2_Mac_Universal.zip was not already unzipped when downloading, double click on the

WebPShop_0_4_2_Mac_Universal.zip to get the WebPShop.plugin.

Then copy or move the WebPShop.plugin to

Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/Elements 24

the site you referred me to says the plug in is for photoshop, (not photoshop elements.) Also WebPShop_0_4_2_Mac_Universal.zip  doesn't exist, only 0-4-2-3.   Does a photoshop plugin work for elements?

Hi Jeff, I re-read the instructions and looked at the webpage more closely to get to the download link.  I downloaded the plug in. You said to put Elements 24 folder.  Can you please tell me which folder: there is no plug ins folder. should I create a plugins folder? I put it in the folder named 24.0 and it does not open the webp image, says PS elements doesn't recognize it.

Where it says Plugins below the CS6 folder there should be a Elements 24 folder to put the WebPShop.plugin in.

If it isn't there it's likely that you haven't installed the Camera Raw plugin, by going to Help>Install Camera Raw from within the Photoshop Elements 2024 Editor.

After you get the WebPShop.plugin in the Elements 24 folder you'll probably need to Notarize the plugin by following the directions here by TheDigitalDog

Thanks Jeff, it finally worked! I didn't have to notarize it by going into terminal, there is a way to bypass the apple security feature by going into Settings> Security and Privacy> and clicking the "Allow anyway " button to say that its ok to open it despite the warning.  Here's a dumb question, why would google create an image file format (Webp)  that takes this amount of research and effort to open in industry standard image editing programs?? And why wouldn't Elements include the plug in in the 2024 software?? thanks for your help 🙂

Thank you for your help. I have the same problem with my Mac. No plug-in folder where it should be. I also do not have the option in the Help menu to Install Camera Raw.

Did you get Photoshop Elements 2024 from the Apple App store or from Adobe?

When your looking at the Help menu are you in the Photoshop Elements Editor or Organizer?

Can you post a screenshot of what your seeing in the Help menu?

Yes I do, and now we are getting somewhere because I found the location for the plug-ins, thank you very much. Now I guess I only need a link for the WebP plug-in for Elements 2024.
