Hi -
This is what i am doing. I open an eps file in illustrator and do a save as eps again (reason for doing this is the original eps when edited contains lot of invalid DSC header info which the HP printer fails to understand). The EPS is saved with the following settings in adobe illustrator CS5:
EPS Options:
Version = Illustrator 3 EPS
Preview = None
Options = Checked only "Compatible Gradient and Gradient Mesh Printing"
Adobe PostScript = LanguageLevel2
After doing this i confirmed the eps file header info is all valid.
The problem iam facing is when this EPS is used to be printed by the printer, the printer prints the image perfectly fine on the coordinate settings where i intend, BUT after the image has been printed, blank space almost equal to a blank page appears and then the remaining text is printed. I tried resizing the image, selecting the art box size equal to the image size but none of it worked. The setting mentioned above is required for the PS HP printer. Dont know from where the extra space is coming up after the image has been printed.
PLEASE somebody have some solution or some information to solve this.

Output a pdf of the orginial EPS and compare it with the results you are getting from the EPS file you are creating with CS5.

When i ran the same program using the EPS file and created a PDF, i did not have the problem of blank space. Everything came in the position i wanted to, the logo and the text, but the images are now coming as only boxes. This is probably because the SQR program only prints JPEG/BMP not EPS, when its output is selected as PDF. Any idea why the extra space is there after the EPS image has been printed by the printer. If you dont mind ,if sending the EPS file will help us to figure the issue, i can send it to you. And thanks for your prompt reply.

I have attached an Acrobat window snippet showing the result I got after distilling your file with Distiller 9.
Note that in your post the hyphen definition was altered to a symbol and since it didn't translate into 7-bit text I substituted "/hyphen 0 def".
Please confirm that my results in Acrobat, on screen, are what you want on paper from an HP printer.
Also, It would seem that the file you posted only has the header in it, not the header and following text.
If that is the case you will need to send/post the combined file so I can see how they are joined.

1- The code which was incorrectly copied over is:

Note i have added an extra space after the hypen so that the symbol does not appear.
2. Yes the snippet is the what is needed on the paper after being printed by the HP printer.
3. The code which is copied above is all what is in the eps file. The following/trailing text is generated by the SQR program right after the logo is printed. SQR prints the following text after 2 lines of logo. As far as header is concerned you mean the text which comes before the logo/image? If thats what you mean, that is also generated by SQR.
To confirm that the space issue is not due to my SQR program, i used one of few delievered EPS files by SQR and they got printed perfectly fine after running my program. So it proved that there is some issue when i create EPS using AI.

Is there any way you can provide an image of the printer output?
From you SQR program can you print to a file instead of an actual printer? If so, post or better yet email me a copy of that.
Also, briefly explain the purpose of the SQR program.

I can email it to you if possible the printer output. Yes i can print to file instead of printer directly and it generates a PDF but the EPS image doesnot work with PDFs.

What I would need to have is a file containing the same data as what would be sent to the printer.
