Premiere Pro 25.6 Build 31 - 3 Bugs

Contributor ,

I have found three bugs all of which are quite disruptive to my workflow on Premiere Pro Beta 25.6.

  1. Scrolling Timeline
If I set the Timeline Auto Scrolling to smooth scroll, it becomes impossible to stop playback using either the stop button on the Program Monitor or the space bar. The sequence will play to the end regardless. This actually only happens from about 3 quarters of the way through the timeline, operation is normal for the first part. If the timeline Auto Scrolling is set to Page Scroll then everything works correctly.

  2. If I add a vertical guide, on the Program Monitor, for example to indicate the mid-point. This guide is misplaced (not even close to the centre) when watching on full screen video. It is correctly placed, however, if I just maximise the program monitor panel.

  3. If I wish to filter on the Project Panel by typing some characters into the search field near the top, the search box loses focus after the first character. This means reselecting the box before entering the second and subsequent characters, otherwise the input is interpreted by the application and will typically change the tool selected or something else.

These are all readily reproducible.

My system.

Intel Core Ultra 265

Nvidia RTX 5070

64GB Memory

Windows 11 Pro 10.0.26100 Build 26100

@Peter_McC

I love to replicate bugs, but I can't for any one of these.

PR Beta 25.6.0.31. Win 11 Pro v10.0.26100.

i7-11700K, RAM: 640 GB. Single UHD monitor. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070, Driver: 566.36.

1 - I turned smooth scroll on (Edit -> Preferences -> Timeline). I did not see the problem in two sequences, one only 2.5 minutes long, the other a little over an hour, starting playback toward the end. They are plain one clip sequences.

2 - I have Snap in program monitor On. I did not see a problem with where I placed vertical guides. They appear to be stay where I placed them. I moved a text box around, and got correct snapping at the guides and the standard mid points. I didn't see any differences when I switched to full screen. I'm in the default Captions and Graphics workspace.

3 - That is a familiar symptom from a variety of previous versions - text entry (from first or second or third keypress) exits entry mode and executes a keyboard shortcut (or types and executes shortcut). I get regular text entry in the panel search box currently.

Thanks for trying to replicate these. I have some thoughts.

1. I have a feeling this could be related to the RTX 5070 as it is being used to decode the h.265 4K 10-bit Sony files on my sequence. I have tried it on some sequences with ProRes media and I am not seeing this behaviour. So it is something related to the decoding process, I'm guessing.

2. This is only seen when using the new full screen mode for playback, so not in the Program Monitor as such. Everything is fine in all other panels / modes.

3. It may be familiar but it is still quite anoying. This bug is not seen on filtering in the Effects Panel. Still worth pointing out because it shouldn't be there.

So for me the three bugs are still there.

Thanks again.

I saw really bad performance with Smooth Scroll, I don't like it much anyway, but for testing. It wasn't impossible to stop it, it just took some seconds.

I don't see any problems with the guide. For me they are stuck where they are supposed to be. When using full screen (~) and zoomed in or out.

I don't see any issues on the project panel search.

I did miss the boat! So, thanks I found it now, (upper far-right just below the menu bar), I indeed saw the error you are reporting, the guide is about a 25% in 'Full Screen Video' right at 50% in all other modes.

<<This is only seen when using the new full screen mode for playback>>

Did I miss the boat? What is the 'new full screen mode' and how is it activated? ~?

The guide problem doesn't appear in the Program Monitor, even at full screen. It only appeared in Full Screen Video ... When you use the button at the very top right of the Premiere application. Diagonal arrows pointing top right ans bottom left.
