We are excited to report faster exports for high-resolution HEVC in Premiere Pro (Beta) with macOS 12 on M1 Macs. With the change, hardware encoding is now enabled for DCI 4K and 8K HEVC exports, resulting in significantly faster performance. Previously hardware encoding was available for resolutions up to UHD (3840 x 2160 pixels) on M1 systems. DCI 4K footage is 4096 x 2160 pixels. 8K footage is 7680 x 4320 pixels.

These export improvements are available for macOS 12 on all M1, M1 Pro, and M1 Max systems, with the latest Premiere Pro (Beta).

If you have updated to macOS 12 Monterey, please try out the new Premiere Pro (Beta) and let us know what you think. Please join the conversation below.
