Premiere Beta runs out of Memory on Mac Mini M1 (says 70GB used)

Premiere Beta runs out of memory on my Mac Mini M1 (16GB RAM). To be specific, the window that pops up is from Mac OS, and Premiere seems to be OK but I save and close to be safe.

The weird thing is, the popup claims Premiere Beta is using 70GB memory. But I have it configured to optimize for "Memory" (not "Performance") and to use 8GB memory max.

The project has over 100 raw media footage files in it, each 2-3 minutes long. They're not all in use in the open Sequences, but they're imported in the project. Is Premiere Beta loading all of those clips in RAM, even if not used in any open sequences?

Are you on Monterey? There are many reports of memory leaks, especially wiht M1 hardware. Could be an OS issue.

See here and here for examples.

Hi R&B - Yes I run Monterey beta on a MacBook Air M1 since the beta became available. Not once an issue with Davinci, though, in which I edit significantly more complex videos than in PP. So logic would dictate that this is not the issue at play and I hope Adobe is not waiting for an "official fix" from Apple before investigating their problem. Unrelated but just to share another observation, I run Microsoft Office 360 intensively and this suite also has had no issues ever with any of the programs under Monterey, no matter how big the files or how heavy the processing.

Hy I had a solution. After a lot of trial and error I found out that this
problem is caused by a corrupt file (in my case a damaged .MP4 from my
Sony). How can you find it? Simply I just opened them one by one in VLC and
found that where the problem is the video stuck. then I just simply cut of
the damaged part from the file and then exported and changed the file in
the Premiere Pro Project. It solved the problem for me.
