Have been using Text-based editing successfully until yesterday. Normally using Delete (Ripple) would remove both the selected text, video selected and ripple the delete to pull clips together.
It does select the video portion, so I'm using Extract to remove and ripple the deleted section. But, then have to go back to the Transcript and manually delete the text.
Really like this feature and hope it will be in the regular version soon!
Thanks

@karlb15039502 Thanks for letting us know you're seeing this. I'm not on my end, so I'm wondering if it's possible your sequence was statically transcribed in this case, which is where the audio is rendered out and transcribed but doesn't keep updated if your sequence changes. You can tell by clickng the "..." menu in the top right of the Text panel, and see if you have the option to "Generate text-based editing transcript". If that option is enabled, it means you're in a static transcript and so that explains it. You can go ahead and switch to a text-based editing transcript and it should then keep your transcript and timeline in sync.

I have read all the threads on this post. Here is the full screen shot. I have generated a text editing transcript. the first time I worked in this shared project, it worked with no issues. I published and closed the project. Then, the next day I opened the pronect again and couldn't delete or ripple delete using the text. It would give me the in and out points, but not delete. I tried pasting and the was something on the clipboard to paste. I had to use <CTRL> Z to remove it. I have toggled follow active monitor on and off, I have toggle the automatic set in and out points on and off, it didn't work with every try and change. i feel it is something small I am missing. Any ideas?

Edward, thanks for all the information. That is helpful.
If you right-click over the highlighted text in the Text Panel, what do you see? Does it include Cut and Ripple delete with shortcuts? The Delete key itself is not a shortcut for this purpose, and I wonder if that sometimes causes confusion? You indicate having tried multiple options, I don't think that is your issue.
Do the Lift/Extract buttons work - in the Text Panel? In the Program Monitor?
My quick test worked fine, and this in a project that has been reopened.

Hi Stan,
So when I right click here is what I have.
I have the shortcut keyboard set on default.
What is happening is when I highlight text and right click and select ripple delete the highlight text has in and out point created on the sequence, but then only the playhead moves to the begining of the selected text. with no deletion. If I do the same thing as above, but select delete, nothing happens.

it seems the only thing working in the drop down list is EDIT TEXT

Edward,
Sorry, I did not see it the first time: the tracks to be effected must be targeted (e.g. the V1 and A1 must be lit up).
If you have content in tracks that are not targeted, it will delete but not ripple delete. Since NONE of your tracks were targeted, you saw nothing happen.
While this "should" explain your situation, I'll just say that in the samples I was testing, I have no problem in one sequence, and in another sequence, I see only "Correct Text" in the right-click drop-down in the Text Panel, Extract and Lift are greyed out, but Extract/Lift in the Program Monitor works. They are both simple sequences with a single clip with a Source transcription.

Ding DIng!!! That was it!! Once I highlighted these tracks it began to work again perfectly! Thank you! I knew it was a small oversight somewhere. Here's a snippet incase someone else finds this thread in the future.

Duh. Re my comment ''...I have no problem in one sequence, and in another sequence, I see only "Correct Text" in the right-click drop-down in the Text Panel...." One had a Static Transcription. Which cannot use text-based editing. Thus the only available option was "correct text." Mystery solved: user error!

I'm having the same problem. The Backspace key for ripple delete in text-based editing used to work and now it doesn't. It's creating the in and out points on the sequence, but not deleting.

@Edward26943963hcet Are you using a custom keyboard shortcut layout? Open the Keyboard Shortcut editor and at the top it tells you which preset layout you're using. If it's Custom, try setting it back to the standard Premiere Pro default one and see if the Text panel works as expected. If that does fix it, then that means that some of the new Text Panel commands aren't mapped in your custom layout, and you just need to map them. Switch back to your Custom layout and in the bottom area navigate to the Text Panel heading and twirl it open to see all the main commands there like Delete and Ripple Delete.

I also have this issue. But as you mentioned, mine is correctly transcribed, as you can see below screenshot because it's showing to generate a static transcript... Please help, it seems like It doesn't work for me

Sorry you didn't get a response sooner.
We need screenshots to see what you are seeing. Transcript tab, timeline, program monitor.

This is really upsetting. Text to edit was a game changer... and in the middle of it, it just STOPPED! Is there anything other advice?

We need more information, and preferably a screenshot including the text panel, program monitor, timeline, and project panel.
For example, if you, accidentally or intentionally, click on the "automatically set in/out points" icon in the transcript tab. All of a sudden, you no longer get edits added to the timeline etc.
Or if you turn off the "Follow active monitor" selection and you have "sequence" picked when you need Source, or vice versa.
Of course, we're in the Beta forum, and sometimes Betas do have unexpected bugs.
Edit: we're not in the Beta forum: it's the regular forum bug subforum. The subject referred to an old Beta build. What version are you using?

I found the answer in another bug report. Make sure the {} button is checked on the transcribe screen. It automatically selects the in and out markers so you can delete the chunks you want or don't want.

Nope. Still not working for me in 23.6. It was working before the latest update. : (
