How do you license music used in Premiere Rush?

Nuevo aquí ,
Jul 22, 2021 Jul 22, 2021

I created a video in Premiere Rush and used music ("Our Colors) which was available in the app. After some searching I found the following: The Rush soundtracks are completely free and royalty-free. Premiere offers royalty-free music but you need to license it. Okay, so HOW?  How do I license the track I used in Premiere Rush?  There is a handy dandy video tutorial for how to do this in Premiere PRO but nothing like this for Premiere Rush. I've been chatting with Adobe help for the last 30 minutes and the person keeps referring me to stock.adobe.com where I search and can't find the "Our Colors" audio to license. If anyone knows and can assist, I would be forever grateful.  Thank you!

Hi @Artfuldodge2,

Thanks for the question. I don't believe there is any formal process for licensing Rush soundtracks. Use them for personal purposes, and I believe you'll not encounter any problems. Thanks,
Kevin

Hey there, @ItsWill,

I read about your issue. Thanks for the info. This issue can happen for a variety of reasons, and I apologize that you got caught up in one of them. I can think of a couple of reasons why this may have happened.

  • You are using an older version of Rush which may contain tracks that have a copyright that has expired.
  • You imported the Rush project to Premiere Pro and exported to social media from there.

If this is the most current version of Rush or you have not exported t

I am also facing the same issue. I would love to know how to license it, too.

Same problem here. Want to use 'Spin' from the Adobe Score Collection but thanks to that unclear phrase of  The Rush soundtracks are completely free and royalty-free. Premiere offers royalty-free music but you need to license it, I don't know how to proceed because I also can't find on Adobe Stock and have no clue how to do the licensing. Why isn't Adobe providing an answer? Two years on one would expect some clear help from them!

This is incorrect information. So far, I have not found anyone at Adobe who knows the answer to this question. I have an Adobe Rush subscription and used Adobe royalty-free music in my clip, and the audio has now been removed from the clip by Facebook based on copyright volation. I have contacted Adobe support chat, and they have told me that I need to have an Adobe Stock subscription, despite the fact that Adobe Rush is advertised to have royalty-free music INCLUDED. This is seriously misleading and it seems like Adobe support does not know the features of their own products, while Adobe marketing is advertising their products incorrectly.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hello, and thanks for your reply.

My Adobe Rush shows as "Up to Date" in my Creative Cloud app, so it seems that I have no update available there.

Going to "About Premiere Rush" within the application tells me that it is Version 2.9.0 Build 14. If that's the most current version, that's the one I have.

Raw video files were imported from a camera source into Rush as mp4 files, and the audio was stripped from them. Even in the audio that had been in them, there was NO music whatsoever, only dialogue. Premiere is not a part of this workflow in any way whatsoever. The video was wholly edited in, and exported directly from, Rush.

The Rush audio file used was "Jazz Hop Summer Bass & Guitar."

OK, @ItsWill,

I contacted the product team on this one. Hopefully, they will respond soon. The track might have expired rights. You might want to duplicate the project and try a different track in the interim. I hope to have an answer for you soon. Sorry for the issue.

Thanks,
Kevin

So just to update - I have received a call from Adobe Support regarding this issue. It has been confirmed to me that Adobe OWNS NO RIGHTS to any of the music provided in Rush; rather it is supplied by a partner network of creators that Adobe has an agreement with, who have the ability to revoke the permission to this music at any time.

In this case, if Adobe is "lending" music to endusers via Rush, then this should be properly disclosed and described as such. Personally, I will never use another piece of audio supplied by Adobe as this is not how my previous experience with royalty-free music providers has operated. I stand by my original feelings that this is **at best** negligent on the part of Adobe and at worst, a deceitful and malicious business activity - I lean towards the latter as this issue has been raised multiple times over multiple years within this forum, with no change in practice nor marketing by Adobe other than being reactionary when this issue is inevitably raised time and again.
