Importing .mogrt Exported from Premiere Pro (25.0) does not work

Hello,

I have had motion graphic templates as .mogrt files used for a while. We recently updated our stock color palette and had a few that we used over and over that I wanted to make sure were updated. So, to be clear, they were made in Premiere Pro, not After Effects, around 2020-2021, following the same instructions from Adobe at the time. Now, when I follow the same steps in the latest version of Premiere Pro to a motion graphic that has the exact same properties as before, just changing the color, and follow the same steps, it refuses to load in Adobe Premiere Rush, giving me this error:

I have also tried adding them to a Motion Graphics Templates Creative Cloud library, and those do not load in Rush.

From this forum post: https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-rush-discussions/mogrt-not-installing-in-rush/td-p/12757540

The apparent workaround was to export from Premiere Pro v 15.4.3. That version is no longer offered through Creative Cloud (per the bottom comments from the same post), so there's no way for me to see if that would resolve the issue. Do custom .mogrts no longer work with the latest versions of Premiere Pro (25.0) and Premiere Rush (2.10) and there are no unofficial ways found by the engineers to fix it? If so, this feature should be removed from the product. It is also strange that Rush is no longer featured in the "Video" apps section of Creative Cloud.

Hi @stephenb12860235,

Thanks for the message. I know this issue because I used the feature, too. Yes, you can still access .mogrt files created in Premiere Pro 15.4, or earlier. They are accessible from the Library. In the Graphics panel, choose "Saved." You should see your legacy .mogrt files there.

You cannot create .mogrt files with Premiere Pro versions later than 15.4. I'm sorry about that. I wish they had not discontinued the feature, as I loved using it, too. I'm sure the team knows abo

I'm sure the team knows about the situation and hopes to address it in a future version. Sorry for the hassle. Let me know if you see any documentation about that feature still being supported and I will have it removed. I am sorry for any confusion this may have caused.

Thanks,

Hello Kevin,

Thanks for your quick reply! Yes, I tested re-importing .mogrt files from the old c. 2020-2021 version of Premiere (presumbaly 15.4 or earlier) and as of the current version of Premiere Rush (2.10) it still works.

However, because newer versions of Premiere Pro-created .mogrt files still don't work as of the last forum thread in around 2022, it would be helpful if the developers could add a simple information icon popup to the Install template button in the Graphic panel in Rush that says something to the effect of "Deprecated, only works on .mogrt files produced in Premiere Pro 15.4 or earlier."Screenshot 2024-11-07 100052.png

I'll pass along your idea to engineers, @stephenb12860235. Thanks for that!

I have an issue in version 25.0 where you used to be able to edit .mogrt files in the essential graphics tab. I know you are able to edit in the effects controls now, but I used to be able to drag and drop jpeg and video files into the .mogrt file and now it wont allow me to do it anymore since the update. Any Ideas?
