Hi,
I just got the new IPhone 16 and I started filming 4k videos or cinematic videos. Once I upload them to Premiere Rush it shows Media import error. It says unsupported media type. 1 of 1 media could not be imported.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Hi @Ai3x, @Azteca, @scottr11880200, @jennifer_7623, @Allison34119006ob21, @Alexander35309527h4m6, @sarsquirrel, @amberhankins,
HDR and Cinematic Mode are not supported. The standard video setting should work fine, though. On your iPhone, choose Settings > Camera > Record Video, and disable HDR Video and Spatial Audio. Let me know if you have any trouble with it.
Thanks,
Kevin
I simply turned off Spatial Audio and that seemed to resolve it...even with 4K resolutions.
Go to settings/camera and tap on Record Sound and switch from Spatial Audio to Stereo.

Turning off hdr is fine for future videos but what about the videos and moments I've already captured? Are they just uneditable in rush forever? Please ask them to fix this.

Thanks for the comment. I learned that HDR video should be able to be imported, but the issue most people are experiencing might have more to do with the other newer feature of the iPhone, spatial audio. Spatial audio is the thing you need to turn off in order for clips to import to Rush.
You can transcode clips that have already been recorded with spatial audio in Adobe Media Encoder or the freeware Shutter Encoder on the desktop. Kind of a hassle, but you can use them afterward in Rush mobile.
I hope the new workflow (where spatial audio is turned off) will serve you well in the future. Sorry for the problem.
Cheers,
Kevin

True, @Alexander35309527h4m6, cinematic mode is not yet supported. Sorry about that! I'll let the team know. Check out Project Violet by Adobe Labs on the AppStore and see if the newer software might support those formats. Let me know!
Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
That sounds fantastic! Thank you so much for getting back to me. In the meantime, I'm using the Premiere Rush app on my MacBook Pro, and it’s working fine. The issue seems to be only with the mobile app. Thanks again—I’ll check out Project Violet and test it with that.
Best,
Alex

Yes, it's cool that you have a computer, but I don't, only a phone and I can't use this function on it, it's not available in my region and other programs in the first comment cost extra money☹️👀

Hello, I'm using an iPad for project Violet. It does a good job importing anything on my iPhone 16 cinematic or otherwise. I was wondering if there was a detach audio from video option I couldn't find one immediately thank you so much.

Does Adobe Rush plan on fixing this issue of not being compatible w/ iphone 16 4k videos? It's been like this for a few weeks -- crazy to charge a subscription but not have the full capabilities.

I'm not on the product team, I'm in support so I do not have an answer to that question. Sorry about that.I got some sample footage and found this: the key is to turn off spatial audio in your camera settings, then everything should work normally. Sorry, Rush has not been developed yet to handle that feature. Sorry for the hassle.
Thanks,
Kevin

@Kevin-Monahan Chiming in to say please please please fix this issue! Just got the iphone 16 and was so excited to start editing higher quality videos in Rush, which is the app I've been using years. To see that the files were not supported in the app was such a disappointment! I depend on the ability to edit quick videos on the fly without having to change the formats or use a computer. If no one with a new iphone can use your product, I think that's a big problem! 😞

Same. I'm also on iPhone 16, videos won't upload to Rush. I plan on canceling my subscription as this is a deal breaker

Just to add I'm also experiencing this. Not just cinematic mode either, regular video on the iPhone 16 pro won't import.
it works perfectly with project violet but unfortunately that's missing some features from rush and won't import rush projects. My current workaround is to import into violet and then export before importing again to rush. Not ideal.

Does no one on "the team" have a new iPhone? Surely the team has a large group of iphone users, or at very least when a new model comes out we are making sure our software functions properly right? This is incredibly frustrating as a mobile shorts editor. Please fix!

Yes, @gilroy4200,
They verified that Rush works fine with the phone, you just need to change your camera settings. Go to Settings > Camera > Record Video, and disable HDR Video and spatial audio. That should work for you.
Thanks,
Kevin
