Having an issue where Rush won't allow me to import certain JPG files to timeline. On iPhone 11 pro max iOS 13.3.1
The funny thing is the program will allow me to import iPhone camera photos, and even JPG's from my old camera. But anytime I try to import a JPG from my Sony a7iii it gives me unsupported media error. Any help?

Sorry what worked? I cannot find your solution? My solution was to change it to a .png file. But how can you convert files on an ipad?

Greetings Al,
I think I found a workaround. It appears that the 4K limit as mentioned by Adobe tech-support is a soft 4K limit. In other words one of the dimensions has to be 3840 or 2160. So as an example, my drone shoots panoramas and the dimensions are 8192 x 3304. When I try and import those, I get the Unsupported media error. If I do a little math and scale that down, I can import a JPEG of 5356 x 2160. That will import correctly. And then I can do a pan and zoom effect on the photo. I used Adobe Lightroom to scale the image down. I also found that you need to select the lossless JPEG format. I hope this helps.

Why does Rush allow some jpeg images but not others with the exact same dimensions and weight? beyond frustrating.

I get this error message whenever i try to import any format (iphone, jpg, png) of a panorama picture, even when limiting the height to 1020 px.
It kind of defeats the use of a pan and scan feature since its apparently only meant for a burns effect, not actual social media photage.

So this is still an issue. What I did was open the picture in preview and coverted it to a .png. I kep the size and everything so its definately the .JPG type (JFIF?). that didnt convert. How can you covert images on an ipad to PNG? does PS express do that?

This is a janky fix, but I'm on an iPad Pro and I've been getting the same error. I tried everything I could think of, nothing worked. Then I thought to open the image and screenshot it, cropping down to just the image. That worked! It's ridiculous that this is still an error in 2024 but this seems to be a workaround.

As mentioned previously, it has to do with the resolution. I've used the 4K resolution of 3840 x 2160 for 16:9 is a pretty good size to use. I followed this video (specifically for iOS/iPadOS) to setup a shortcut that easily resizes images for you. The command would sit in your share sheet and you would select images like you normally would when sharing.

hope this helps!

Not bad for an extremely intensive workaround but if adobe premiere cant even read iphone photos due to resolution after all this time its just lack of attention to detail and genuinely not listening to their communtiy (people who pay them way too much every single month on the "suck me dry" cloud plan. ITS PHOTOS ON A VIDEO EDITING APP HOW CAN IT NOT HANDLE THEM?

Your not wrong.
On a side note, Apple should make resizing just a plain ol' option instead of needing a shortcut. It's not something I'd use frequently but something that would be extremely helpful and easy without having to jump into a 3rd party app.

Hello @dallasshea,
Sorry for the error. Do you mean you cannot import a JPG from a Sony a7iii? Let the community know! (these are user-to-user forums).
Thanks,
Kevin

Jpegs are from Lightroom (shot on Fuji film x100vi).
I am using another app in the meantime

Thanks for the message. That's odd, @dallasshea. I could not replicate that problem. How large are the images? I was able to import a 4K image out of Lightroom. Feel free to share an image with the community. You can also send me the link by private message if you prefer. Sorry for the frustration.
Thanks,
Kevin

Tip that worked here....
Open your photo, pribt screen and save on your camera roll... that import again. You will moat lickely lost your quality but, its a trick that worked for me.

Hi, I had the same issue on IPad. From Canon EOS r50 , edited on Lightroom or Snapseed , it shows unsuported format file. It looks the IPad doesn't recognise the format file. I solved it with Canva - downloaded it as jpg and it worked.

I have the same issue, so the problem was still not solved after so many years. The easiest solution is to use other app.
