The world of producing commercials is so interesting to work in as you are helping tell a story in order to sell a product or service. Commercial video can be created for a variety of different clients, or for your own business.

 

Creating commercials can cover a wide variety of content types and production values, most of which are dictated by clients. However, you may have a hand in some of the creative decisions in making commercials for others. If you have your own business, having access to the knowledge and tools to create your own commercials is quite powerful, as well.

 

There are a wide variety of products and services that end up as subjects of commercials, almost too many to mention.

  • Your video content, which often include scripts and storyboards, will more than likely be dictated by the client, however, you can often help the client come up with the content for an added fee.
  • A standard script, an A/V script, a storyboard, and shot list can all help guide the planning and execution of the commercial shoot. Strive to have all these items prepared and reviewed for details.
  • In the next phase, you'll come up with story ideas for your commercial.
