I have some topics that have bad names. They contain an ampersand which doesn't seem to be a problem unless you're creating chm output in which case the ampersand and following character are missing in the chm's ToC. I can ask to rename the topic and that does change the name of the htm file. It does not, however, change the name of what appears in the contents panel or the choices available for building the ToC. I've had the same problem renaming First_Topic to something meaningful.
Maybe I misunderstood, I was trying to get at properties in the actual ToC. That wouldn't work, but if I asked for properties from the contents, i can change that. So, I'm good.
Thanks

I just tested and it seems that all you need to do is right-click the item in the TOC and choose Properties. From the popup dialog type what you want in the Title field.
I know that Adobe is (and will be for the foreseeable future) making constant changes to make the product worthy of actual production work, so if you haven't you really need to stay on top of updating to the most recent versions as they come out. I believe the most recent release is version 6.

Hey Rick,
I'm still in my 30 day free trial. So, I'm current. I tried that and I get (twice now) the deadly Application Error - The application has run into an error. Please save your unsaved changes and restart from the menu.

There is a TOC problem in 6. Update 7 is likely to be released very soon.
