Hi - I am using RH HTML, version 8. I was wondering if anyone has had any
luck importing spreadsheet data into RH and using that data to create topics. If so, can you review the process that you used?
My generated layout is MS HTML help.
Thanks!

Hi Tina
Are you talking about a comma delimited file or something?
There is no ability in RoboHelp to import an Excel spreadsheet and create topics like there is when working with Word.
If you want an image of a spreadsheet, you could use SnagIt or RoboScreenCapture to copy the image, then use the image in a RoboHelp topic.

Hi Rick:
No, I'm actually talking about importing a spreadsheet (not CSV or TXT file). I did discover one method - save the spreadsheet as a PDF then import the PDF.
That seems to work best.

Hi Tina,
I was able to import Excel data by massaging the data in Excel and then saving as CSV. See http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650531

We were stuck with huge html conversions of Excel tables (can you say 42 columns?), which were causing RH to gag and choke out hair balls and do it all very, very slooooooooooooowly. So we made sure they were named .HTML, not .HTM. We added them as baggage files, with an "index" page of links to them.
I'm not sure what the RH Search will do with these files, but we're using Zoom Search, which gladly indexes them along with our regular topics.
Good luck,
Leon
