PDF TOC does not show headings for Glossary and Index

I am new to RoboHelp and trying to generate my first PDF output.  I have a Table of Contents where I have added back matter for the Glossary and Index. For a template, I am using the supplied "HighTech" template, just to test things out.  In the TOC of the generated PDF, there are rows for the Glossary and Index, but they don't have a title, as in the example below (the Glossary is on page 9, the Index is on page 10).  Yet when I go page 9 and 10 in the PDF, those pages do have a title ("Glossary" or "Index").   Can anyone explain how to get the titles to show in the PDF?  I have not made any changes to the HighTech template. I also tried the Basic and Prime templates, and I get the same result...

I had a similar issue with the Glossary in PDFs (I didn't include an index). The 2022.2.22 version does fix this problem, so I'd recommend trying that update.

I can tell from the template you are using that this is RoboHelp 2022 but I can't tell which update you have applied. Please always start a thread with this information. Please go to Help > About and include the full version number.

Also please use the photo icon to insert images within the post. Seeing an image inline with the text makes it easier for anyone answering or viewing the post.

I just tested this and it worked as it should. First of all please create a new project with just one index entry and one glossary term. If that fails as well, close the project, then reopen it and generate again. That shouldn't be necessary but just a hunch.

Let us know if that changes things.

I have this version of RoboHelp: Version 2022.1.188.
I did as you suggested:

  1. Created a brand new project.
  2. Added one glossary item
  3. Added one index item to the default first topic.
  4. Created a TOC of type "Book TOC" and called it "PDF TOC."
  5. To the PDF TOC I added a single topic: "First Topic"
  6. To the PDF TOC, I added Front Matter (a TOC).
  7. To the PDF TOC, I added Back Matter (the Glossary and Index).
  8. PDF_TOC.gif
  9. In Output > Templates, I created a new PDF template called "High-Tech-Test" (just a copy of the standard one, I did not make any changes to it).
  10. In the PDF Output Preset, I set this: Contents > Table of Contents:  "PDF TOC"
  11. and also: Layout > Template: "High-Tech-Test"
  12. I generated the PDF output. I got the same results: there is a Glossary and Index page in the PDF, and there are entries for those items in the PDF's TOC, but they do not have a title. I looked at the format of the "Glossary" and "Index" title, and it is "h1" which seems correct to me.
  13. I also saved and closed the project, re-opened it, and regenerated the PDF, but it is still the same.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!  The PDF is attached as well.

Thank you Karen,
I had done: Help > Check for Updates, and it did not list any updates, so I had assumed that I was on the latest version.
But looking at the adobe support page, apparently there is an Update 2, which they state does not show when you do "check for updates" !!??!!
And in the release notes for that release, as you mentioned, there is a fix for:

  • Headings are missing for Front Matter and Back Matter items in TOC. (Bug ID: 11492)

So I downloaded the update, and the issue is now fixed!

Glad you found it! I'd forgotten that there was also a bug that broke the Check for Updates feature. 😄

See the Contact page on my site and send that project as instructed there. Do make sure you include a link to this thread and please do not email the project direct.
