RoboHelp 2020 TOC open on default in Responsive Help output

I recently updgraded to RH2020 from RH2019. When my projects were upgraded, I had to re-do the outputs. The files must be output in a Responsive HTML format. I'm not having problems publishing the files, but the TOC seems to be hidden by default and, once opened, takes up a lot of space on the left panel. Is there a setting that will allow the TOC to open by default? We want it to display without the users having to take any additional steps. Also, is there a way to control the default size of the TOC panel so that it isn't taking up almost half of the screen?

First make sure you're all patched up (Patch 7 as of Apr 2022) - then check your Preset. You might want to use the new Frameless one - that will give your developers something to mess around with and it's the direction that the RH dev team have been putting their efforts into.

ps - don't attach photos, use the inline picture icon to display them - makes it easier for people to see what you're talking about.

Our client does not like the way the frameless output looks. They want it to look as close to identical to the 2019 version as possible.

PS-Understood. This was my first time posting. Apologies.

The 2020 view looks like it is in a window size for tablet viewing. What size is the window?

These are the window parameters that are set:

I'm okay with the full window size. It's more the fact that the TOC is not displaying when the file initially opens and when you click menu, this is what shows. I need the menu bar on the left to be smaller.

There's something wrong with the images as they don't expand when clicked.

For responsive outputs there are no window settings. If you click the Windows option to create a new window, you will see they are for CHMs only.

Go to these settings and first of all deselect Responsive and generate. If that then opens the way you want, as it should, then the issue is the window size as I suggested. Your options are to

  • Use this layout without responsiveness. That gives the desired appearance but stops the layout changing to suit the device being used to view the help.
  • Change the width settings so that they change at a different point.
