Image not accepted by Adobe, but is accepted by others...thoughts?

Greetings.  Quick question regarding the attached image of a dog in a shelter kennel.  Adobe rejected it noting<<Unfortunately, this image doesn't meet our quality standards so we can’t accept it into our collection.>>

With the caveat that this is not a great image, I have sold this image on other sites.  Any ideas why adobe would reject this image?

Thanks in advance for your help in this matter.

Images that have been accepted and even sold on other sites is no guarantee they will get past the moderators on Adobe Stock. From a technical standpoint, one issue that stands out to me is how the cages begin to slant at the far right edge of the frame. I'm on my laptop and I don't trust my screen quality to look for other issues that might exist but I think the background in the same area can be brightened up to match the overall brightness of the image, but that's probably more my opinion tha

I see issues with composition, focus and chromatic aberration.

Jill C you opened my eyes - literally.  I see a lot more wrong with this image now and I think I missed it before.  Wow.

Thanks!

Learning to see the flaws in one's own images takes time and practice. I learned from every rejection, each one of which stung at first! I get a lot fewer rejections now, and when I do, my attitude is "oh well, I tried..."

Those are the breaks.  Just as some retail stores have higher quality merchandise than others, so do Microstock agencies have different acceptance standards. What's good enough for one is no guarantee it's good enough for the others.

Pets are probably the most submitted subject next to sunsets.  You have a lot of competition in this keyword category.  Compare yours with what's currently available in Stock.

https://stock.adobe.com/search?k=dog%20kennel

  • Is yours as good or better than what Stock has?
  • As a customer, would you buy it?
  • What would you use it for?
  • How could you improve this to make it more sellable?

Adobe Stock customers expect the highest visual and technical quality for use in commercial projects. Read your Contributor User Guide for more tips:

Hope that helps.

It's pretty common for photos to be accepted on one platform and rejected on another.  I have the opposite trouble though, I have photos accepted here that have been rejected by others.

To me, this photo would benefit from some perspective correction and exposure correction.  I also saw the chromatic abberations that @Jill_C pointed out, and from a composition perspective Id like to see the leading lines of this photo lead to the animal not away from it.

I hope that helps!

The phooto is oversaturated, poorly cropped and the dog is not in focus. Your camera focused on the cage in front of him.

You should always mention the header of the refusal. The text that comes with the refusal is simply stock text and not targeted to your asset.

I see the technical issues that others here have mentioned, and I understand well, why the asset got refused. I understand also, why other stock agencies accepted this, and why it sells. As long as you are looking for a “bad”, “poor” dog image, it is nearly perfect. I would put this image on a flyer to ask for pet donations.
