Newcommer needing help on how to "fix" image for Adobe Contributor

Hi all!

So, I attempted to send a submission and after several weeks waiting for an answer... I got rejected.

I really want to improve my photography skill (even though I do that mostly as a hobby) but I am afraid that this is more about photo editing in particular, something that I do only in a very basic level. Even though I got an interesting shot, I feel that maybe the lack of complex editing made my approval not possible. What exactly I should edit in order to make my photo acceptable here in this case?

I see many potential commercial uses for this asset below. Or maybe it is terrible and I have no clue on how to use a camera? I appreciate any constructive feedback. Thanks!

Hello,

The photo is overexposed, take note of the histogram and learn how to read and use it.

It shows how your pixels are displayed from dark to light.

The composition is good, but you will indeed need to learn some basic editing skills. Start with Lightroom which is easier to learn than Photoshop.

What was the rejection reason? Quality issues?

• It's overexposed. Blacks are missing.

  If you are using Lightroom: use the auto exposure and adapt then individual parameters to get a nice contrast and exposure.

  

By selectively editing the sky, you can get that in a more dramatic setting.

The image is indeed not very sharp. That is probably due to the ISO 1600 and due to the lens, you used. An Exposure of 1/100s would have been enough for a daylight picture like this, and it would have allowed to get the ISO down and the F up for more DOF.

Editing can do only so much.  Great images begin with proper photographic technique.  Composition, lighting, focal distance, depth-of-field and the right camera settings for the situation.

If you haven't already, enroll is some photography courses and join a photography club. Learning photography is like learning to play a musical instrument. It takes hours of study and practice, practice, practice.

Hopefully in the future I shall be able to contribute with a more polished work. I believe that it is positive seeing that at least I got material viable to work with. Time to study about photo editing I guess - I am glad that people had the patience to explain me these relevant details.
