sRBG Color Profile Transparent Images

I was reading the Transparent PNG requirements in the DOCs, but wasn't sure about the sRGB requirement. When I create images in MidJourney, it saves all files as PNG. I use different software to remove the background (making it transparent).

What I'm not certain of, are the images I create and save in MidJourney sRGB. When googling, most instruction use PhotoShop to verify an image's color profile. Unfortunately, I don't have Photoshop. Is there an easy to understand online tool that tells you the color profile of an image?

If it helps, I attached a transparent image created in MidJourney. Not sure if anyone can tell me if it meets Adobe Stock Criteria or not. The last thing I want to do is create hundreds of these images and find out none meet Adobe Stock's criteria.

Thanks

You really need to use Photoshop, or another editing program, to fix the errors that are generated by AI tools. The most successful Generative AI Contributors admit that most, if not all, of their images also need editing in PS.

I'm not sure that answers my question but you have a point.

As you said, you can Google "how to determine color profile of an image" and virtually every hit directs you to "open the image in Photoshop". One suggested "Gimp" which is a free image retouching software. Perhaps that will work for you if you don't want to pay for a Creative Cloud subscription and use PS...

In Windows, right click on the image, click on properties, click on the Details tab, then scroll down to Color representation.

Why do you remove the background? Just convert and save to JPG. Most graphics programs, such as the freeware Paint.net, can do that.

Removing the background entitles you to uploading PNG files. If the background removal is correctly done, that could save the buyer hours of editing.

I did try your suggestion but I see no Color Representation (profile) when I use this windows method.

From what I read, a category in Adobe Stock is Images with Transparent Backgrounds. Besides removing the background (only can do with PNG) you have to have sRGB as the color profile.

By @steveeyes

You have assets without transparency: JPEG or

with transparency: PNG. For stock, effectively, PNG is your only option.

Both need to be in sRGB, which is not the best colour profile, but the most common. sRGB is so common, that, when no profile is embedded, sRGB is assumed.

sRGB is probably the output colour profile from your generative AI tool. It would wonder me if the tool would output files in Adobe RGB or ProPhoto RGB. The file posted here is sRGB. If the profile is not correct, and your program to view the file does not take the colour profile into account, the colours will be wrong.

But you still need PhotoShop or similar because your asset is showing errors that need to be corrected. There are some errors with the cutout too, by the way.

Hmmm, I wonder that those errors are, since I don't see them. I've been wanting to invest in adobe photoshop for some time. I have a friend who has it on her laptop. Every time she visits I ask to bring her laptop so I can play around with it, but as a beginner it seems quite complex. I'm a retired vet living off retirement funds so I count every penny these days.

Thanks all for the input.

We are here on the Adobe fora… 😂 I would google. There is not a real replacement to Photoshop, but some clones are good and may be good enough for your use.
