Could I please have the instructions for The W-8 tax form regarding Canadian contributors.
I got it once but I can't seem to get them again since I accidently clicked them off. I need it to fill out a vital part regarding the 10 percent with holding jargon.
Thanks!
Oh never mind. I got it back just by starting over.
Thanks for your trouble.

that does not help in any way with filling in the form. There are supposed to be instructions, somehow I found them; they also do not offer any help on how to fill in Part 1, Q7. I'm having some slight memories of being driven crazy by this list last year as well. I did the form with Shutterstock already, took 10 seconds, I'm currently at 15mins for this.

The form for Shutterstock is the same. I, indeed, filled out this one the last time, and uploaded it to Shutterstock. Instructions can be found at the IRS page.

did you look at the instructions? they were also long and unhelpful. In the past I recall there was some code to put in for my country. I read through the instructions, found a link to another table, and there was a code, like "12(b)" so I put that in..... lol, I'm pretty sure that's not correct. Anyway the form was approved.

If you used the correct U.S. treaty code for your country of residence, it's correct.
Withholding Rates By Country

If your country has no treaty agreement with the U.S., the holding rate is 30%.

That's not on the irs page not part of the instructions. Frankly it's a mess and a pain to find this info. Classic bureaucratic quagmire.

First look at the FAQ. If you still have open questions, look at the IRS page. The IRS page states what all information you need, for general cases. As Adobe has negotiated simplified terms, those apply.
The treaty can be found either as a law, where your government publishes laws or on a US website, If I remember well at the White House's website. But if you trust Adobe, look at the Adobe site.
I do not see any treaty with 12(b), so I'm confident that this is wrong. You should look up your country's code and enter that. It's specifically the paragraph in the treaty, where the tax withholding rates are named.
You shouldn't for get that these treaties are not made for people like you and me, but for those who move millions of dollars. They have a tax accountant and his job is to know the correct treaties for not paying taxes. And therefore these treaties are important, and they make sure that taxes are paid somewhere.
I pay my taxes, so I want that others making much more money than I do, pay taxes too. If that means that I have to fill in a silly form, I will do.
