Try right clicking the sbs in Substance's explorer window and then choose Save a copy As.....
Can you open that copy?

@cattelatte The original post was about a locked sbs file. From your screenshot it looks like you are trying to open an sbsar file. An sbsar cannot be opened for editing

Well, all I wanted to do was to view the nodes to study it, but it's not visible. I figured this was due to the fact that it was locked.

You can do that with an sbs but not an sbsar.
