Hello. I downloaded the trial of Designer to start learning. And I am currenlty having difficulty getting UDIM textures to display on my 3D object in the 3D view. I would appreciate any help that might point me to a solution.

These are my steps:

Import texture (link as template)

Import obj (Use as UDIM mesh = Yes)

Connect udim bitmap to diffuse

Assign substance graph to 3D mesh > All

I see no texture in the 3D View.

I then:

Create a base material.

Expose the base color slot

Connect udim texture. And assign Base Material to 3d mesh, base color.

Still no texture in 3D View.

If I open the Bake Model Information window. I can see all the UDIM UV's for my 3D model. I can bake textures on all UDIM's without error. But still unable to apply the baked texture to the 3D model.

I see a lot of information regarding previous workflows that use Project settings and Texture Sets. But I do not see these options in the latest version.

Thanks!

On the first issue (Diffuse) the standard material is looking for a BaseColor rather than Diffuse, so if you want to display diffuse you will need to change the standard material to something other than the default.

On the second issue of the Basecolor from Base Material not showing,  is the unwrapped jacket on tile 001 to match your graph setting?  Also, check the graph to tile assignment by clicking on 'default' in the explorer window and look at the assignment in properties.

Hello Dave. Thank you for the reply. I hope you are able to reply as second time...

The Jacket is not using 1 uv tile. It is using 12 uv tiles. (UDIM)
The graph settings do not have UV options.
I think Substance Designer does not truly support UDIM's in the 3D view. Please tell me I'm wrong.

Hello,

Indeed, unfortunately there is currently no support in Designer for rendering materials on multiple UDIMs concurrently in the 3D View. Only one tile may be rendered at any point.

I understand this is a frustrating limitation. We want to support it at some point in the future, but cannot share any specific plans at this time. Thank you for your patience!
