Essentially, I might be dumb or something, but when painting over a mask, regardless of whether I am doing it in 3d or 2d view, multiple faces that have absolutely no relation to each other get painted over. They have no UV space overlaps and they're not even close to each other.
Example on video:
https://youtu.be/EETRMgFpy7Q
The models are made in blender and also exported from blender.
I tested this and it was a problem both on a 2019. january version and on a new 2021. november version.
I am using Windows 10, build 19044.1826.
Perhaps this has to do with SP's file settings? Or Blender's export settings? I have no idea and I've encountered this before. Thanks for reading.

Hi,
This is indeed weird! Would you be able to share a log
Could you share your project? It would allow me to test for bugs.
Thank You,
Kind Regards,

It appears I've found how to replicate it on my end. When using the "dirt splash" brush with size of at least 20 (this doesn't appear to be a problem with smaller brush size), it paints over multiple faces. When using the brush "basic hard", it doesn't happen even if I change the brush size.

The log: (I don't know whether this is the log you were looking for, but this is all I found and this is all it displayed).
I have a growing suspicion on me that it has to do with how the project settings or the UV map are set up, but this is definitely puzzling for me. Perhaps the solution is easy and not even a bug.

Hello, I know this is old and you probably figured it out, a very similar thing happened to me just now and in my case it was that for some reason (maybe I accidentally pressed a hotkey) to turn on the symmetry feature, you need to turn that one off.

I'm glad you posted this topic. I've got the same problem in v.2023. If I paint in perfectly blank space between UV islands in the 2D viewport, it paints all over various island surfaces. Very unexpected behavior. Has anyone found a solution to this "problem" to have blank UV space behave as one would expect blank UV space to behave in the 2D viewport while painting?

I came across that idea, but it is not a problem in this case. The Symmetry button, the one with the two triangles and a line, is off. Interestingly, when I just tried the problem again, I found that painting in the open space did nothing this time, but painting on a UV painted over a bunch of UVs as though they were on top of each other. This seems very strange to me, because it doesn't seem to fit what one would expect for the default behavior in an app like this. What else could be causing either problem of painting in open space or ona UV and it causing painting to happen all over a bunch of other UVs?
