How to create a custom input and expose it to upload images (decal filter)

Hello,

I created a decal to use in a 3d software called Vstitcher, this one has a full integration with substance sbsar files. I took the idea of creating this decal from a file from the Substance library (attatched), as you can see in the screenshots this sbsar decal loads perfectly into vstitcher and you can even upload custom images to create different masks/shapes with it. I wanted to create a decal to use like so in vstitcher as well, so I did. The problem is that I don't know how to expose the input to upload the custom images so this can be seen and used in vstitcher. I tried copying the same input node from the substance library file and pasted it into mine, but that didn't work. In the screenshot of my custom decal, you can see that I tried by adding 2 times the copied input and one time a regular input, to see if either of them worked, but no. What do I have to to to expose this input so I can upload custom images inside vstitcher like you do with the decal from substance library? The only difference in functionality between my decal and substance's is that mine is not a mask, is a starter shape.

I would really appreciate your help, thank you!

Update: I just realized that the problem were the spline/paths/scatter nodes, when I deleted them everything worked. I was able to import the sbsar file into vstitcher and the input images were there. I'm really sad that these new nodes do not support its own funtionality when exported as sbsar. It really ruined hours of work and I'm not sure if I would be able to make my decal work without those nodes :(. I'm open to hear any sugestion about this issue!

Hello, I tried your material in my substance painter and it work perfectly(I'm able to import it into painter after I change it's type to basematerial). Maybe it's a issue about Vstitcher ? Maybe it's using a old substance API?

I don't use VStitcher but, from your description, I suspect the sbsar support there does not include the latest engine which is required with Substance apps for path and spline support.

I suspect the same thing. I'm gonna move this thread to the Substance Plugin community, maybe they can give us a more in depth explanation.

Hi @Jesica0101  I looked over the .sbs and your input method seems correct. I am also able to load custom masks in our Blender add-on as well, which uses the v9 Substance engine.

Since you mentioned that removing the Spline node fixed the issue, it is very likely that Dave and Cyril are correct here and that the Vstitcher plugin is not using the latest v9 engine which supports those nodes. This plugin is maintained by Browzwear, so I recommend reaching out to their team to see where they are in the process of updating their plugin.

Best,
Aldo
