Hello there!
I havent been able to find the option to add a custom mesh in the 3D view (just like in substance designer).
Here is my example: I am working a road material generator and I would like to import a mesh to test the perspective, tiling and the curve deformation.
Now that his great software is starting to get updated and improved, has this feature been implemented? if not, are there any plans to do so?
Hi,
The feature isn't available, but following your need, I suggest to follow this technique:
It will help you visualize and help for any material you'll create.
And if you work from references it's also help as you know (or guess) in real life a texture from a point A to B is XXcm/m.
This technique is used for generic materi

Hi,
The feature isn't available, but following your need, I suggest to follow this technique:
It will help you visualize and help for any material you'll create.
And if you work from references it's also help as you know (or guess) in real life a texture from a point A to B is XXcm/m.
This technique is used for generic material creation as they have to be usable for any mesh.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
Thank you.

But is stupid guys. I need see how texture work with all polygons on model. We cant see the result, becuase is different in final. Is real problem. Adobe create best software without general functions year in year. And 80% new features is 'old function in one button'. Guys develop '1-click solutions'. Really useful new features is 20%.

Hi,
We let you ask for that feature and/or upvote for others here:
https://feedback.substance3d.adobe.com/forums/911713-substance-3d-sampler
In the meantime, I remind you if you have an Adobe Subscription you can send your material to painter and visualize it on your mesh in one click.
Thank you.

Im looking for the same thing and Im frankly miffed by this responce. If its possible to upload a custom mesh to Designer or Painter for previewing why not work it into Sampler? Makes it seem like Sampler is an incomplete tool and perhaps there just to lic another chopped up piece of software. Really dissapointing.

Hi,
I understand the incomprehension.
I can remind the first purpose of 3D Sampler: is to create materials from images and/or mix several materials together. So we work and create generic materials, which shoudln't require a custom mesh.
Applicating materials on a mesh is the very purpose of 3D Painter.
That's why this feature wasn't our priority and this is why I suggested to ask for the feature, so we can evaluate the need and follow up directly with our users:
https://feedback.substance3d.adobe.com/forums/911713-substance-3d-sampler
I can also remind that Substance is an ecosystem and each soft works and complete another and we made it possible in one click.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and needs it help us to improve our software.
Regards!

So stager is a Generic Materal Generator ?! I took a look at the release notes for the latest sampler update in hopes of being able to import a custom mesh but of course no. I tried using stager to generate noraml maps for some 3d scans I retopologised but working on a sphere or cube doesnt make sense. Yes, painter, but consider generating maps in stager or sbsar just to have to open and run the setup in painter just to preview it on a scan. Or maybe you're saying I can generate all my maps vis painter and chuck stager in the bin. This workflow is bad and TBH it could be so useful for 3d scans, but I got it, generic only .

Hi,
3D Stager and 3D Sampler are two different softwares.
We made sure for our users to have more than just a cube and sphere models to check their materials:
If you have only two meshes in this section of your viewer settings, please send us a bug report:
https://substance3d.adobe.com/documentation/sadoc/report-a-bug-172823735.html
If you are just trying to do baking you can do it in 3D Painter as well as 3D Designer:
For 3D Painter:
https://substance3d.adobe.com/tutorials/courses/Baking-in-Substance-3D-painter-8-3/youtube-hYtHp4IXv...
For 3D Designer:
https://substance3d.adobe.com/tutorials/courses/fundamentals-of-baking-textures/youtube-ePnLTuzRAbg
Now with 3D Capture feature in 3D Sampler, if you don't need a handmade retopolgy, you can process your scan directly: https://substance3d.adobe.com/documentation/sadoc/3d-capture-247825363.html
All software has it's specifiactions, and again you can send anything to another Substance software in one click.
If you have any insight for us to make the workflow faster we will be happy to hear you in another thread on this forum.
Regards.
