Switching between realtime render and raytracer change the lighting a great deal. Using the realtime render I basically have to double the light intensity compared to raytracing.
For obvious reasons this is not workable if you switch render modes during scene setup. It it a bug?

Real time rendering mode is intended for fast real time interaction with the scene, but it is limited in its lighting and material fidelity. We are looking at ways to improve the real time rendering in the future, but for now, it is recommended to use ray tracing render mode for the most accurate representation of what final renders will look like.

Don't think so. May be that must depend on lightening intensity.

It's helpful to switch between the two modes often when working within Stager. Real time is useful for layout design and object placement by keeping interactive frame rates while still achieving the best look possible. While ray tracing is great for fine tuning lighting and materials with its ability to create realistic shadows, reflections, and translucency.

I appreciate your feedback. I'm in my evaluation period and trying to decide, based on 25 years experience as industrial designer, if Stager is worth the effort or I should stick to Keyshot. So my question is, I guess, what is the realtime render mode made for if it does not allow to finetune lighting. In my short experience with Stager you use the realtime engine to set up the scene and the moment you hit Render, POW, someone turned on the light and you can start over. To show what I mean I have attached two illustrations of Stager vs Keyshot Preview and Final modes. If you don't experience the same issue maybe my installation is bad.
AEllard, what I hear you saying is that due to the (possible) difference in light representation between the two modes it's adviced to change between them while setting up the scene. But you confirm that the realtime engine does not represent, with regards to light intensity, what to expect from the final render. In that case I would like to suggest, as an improvement, that it should.

It seems I get what you mean but not sure. If we change any lighting in render mode Stager build new scene from scratch. But it must only change the lighting value only as in Realtime Mode. Right?

No Ares, I just want the two modes to show the same lighting. Nothing complicated.
