Team Projects: Possible to work offline and publish changes later, or risky?

Community Beginner ,

Hi all,

I am new to Team Projects but it is working well collaborating with a fellow editor. I will have 10+ hours of plane time on Sunday, crossing the Atlantic, and am wondering if I can continue editing even though I won't have Internet access.  It seems that changes are saved locally (somewhere) and then published?  Or is each little edit saved to the Cloud, requiring constant Internet access?  I am concerned about not being able to "save" the project locally while working, in case of a crash/restart, since Team projects can't be saved in the same way.  Does anyone know how this works, exactly?  Would it be safer to create a regular (non-Team) project to work in offline, and later copy things back to the Team project?  Or can I safely work offline and then just wait to "publish" my changes once I'm on land/WiFi?

Thanks for any guidance.

Jen

Hi Jen,
Team Project edits/changes are saved locally to a database and periodically synced to our server. We continue to save changes when disconnected from the internet and sync the changes once we detect the internet connection was reestablished.
Our general guideline is not to use the offline workflow extensively, especially in a Team Project where multiple collaborator work on the same media/sequences - Use interrupted connection mode
"Working on a team project for an extended period when disconnected from the Internet is not recommended. The Interrupted Connection mode feature is meant to provide safety and security if there are intermittent Internet interruptions only."

For your offline editing needs you could make a copy of your Team Project via (File > save As) or convert your Team Project to a local project and merge your changes to the original Team Project when you’re back online.

Best,
Udo
