Amazon launched a new store in our area. They sent us an incentive coupon to try it -- spend $40 and save $20. It's a whole new approach to grocery shopping, very high tech & very organized. To help you stay on budget, each item is scanned and tallied by your cart while you shop. With Alexa technology, finding items is a breeze.
There's a good mix of name brands, Whole Foods brands like 360, organic and Amazon options. Don't feel like cooking? They have a deli and prepared foods as well as meal kits and fresh baked items. Something for everybody.
Have you tried Amazon Fresh yet?
What was your experience?
Will you shop there again?

Sounds like an IKEA? 🙂
Well-p the only thing we're getting over here so far is a Fulfilment center. Not really sure if our city would fit the standards of that store. If we do, it usually closes with in a few years and sometimes not even. But it would be nice. Amazon does have lots of stuff you just can't find in our stores. Not even the fancy ones and those tend to be dumps as well. Maybe in a high end city like Toronto. 😛

??? Amazon Fresh is NOT online e-comm. It's an actual grocery store with fresh produce, meat/fish, dairy, canned/dry goods, etc...

Just pointing out that everything can be bought online these days - including grocery shopping! Why go to a busy grocery shop - especially with Covid running rampant - when one can shop online!
But then comes the data bit; nothing is private anymore and by shopping at Amazon Fresh, (for instance) data is collected about your shopping habits (maybe? - you have to 'sign in' to your Amazon app) the excuse being it can help Amazon 'personalise' your shopping experience!
When you shop at a bricks and mortar shop, data is not normally collected, (when you do it the conventional way) but it seems at Amazon Fresh from what I can make out, everything is digitally recorded as you shop!
Can one do a 'normal' shop there, without signing in to Amazon?
Soon we'll all be shopping in the Metaverse! Can't wait for that to happen🤣

Sure. Apart from CCTV cameras which are everywhere these days, there is no data collected about you except what you opt to give them. I give them my Prime ID when I check out so I can get my discount. But I typically pay cash for everything.
The high tech shopping cart is totally optional and stores have only a few of them. Most people use traditional push carts or hand carry baskets. It's not all that different from other big chains like COSTCO except that it's a lot more organized, there's less waiting in lines and clean as a whistle.
Online shopping is OK for office supplies & household products but I can't buy fresh local dairy, produce, fish, etc.. without seeing it. It's not in my DNA.
As for COVID, well... California is seeing an uptick in new cases & hospitalizations so I wear a mask whenever I go out.

What does hosting on Amazon Web Servers (AWS) have to do with grocery shopping in a physical store?

a widespread viral infection transmitted via bites or contact with bodily fluids that causes human corpses to reanimate and seek to consume living human flesh
