We have Windows application which convert Docx file to XPS using word automation service. During load testing we found that size of Docx size jump from 200 kb  to around 3 MB after conversion to XPS. During troubleshooting we found XPS create images of all letters and words in document instead of embed the Myriad Pro font due to which document size increase multiple times. I believe this is related to Font license as XPS create images only when it unable to validate license. I want to know is there any special steps we need to follow to install license font?

Nope!

Has absolutely nothing to do with font licensing at all!!!! The Myriad Pro font family allows editable embedding which is more than sufficient to allow embedding in XPS or PDF.

What you have stumbled upon is a known bug/limitation in Microsoft software that Microsoft refuses to fix. They simply don't embed OpenType CFF fonts (such as those in the Myriad Pro family) either for XPS or for their own native save-as-PDF function. (Acrobat's save-as-PDF does embed the fonts correctly!)

Call Microsoft and complain to them. I have and they don't seem to care!

Best of luck. Adobe actually opened a bug report with them over this and it was rejected as not a priority for them. Let us know what happens in your case.

By the way, why in the world would you be using XPS? Some special workflow? PDF does pretty much whatever XPS can do, has many more tools from many more software vendors, and is more widely accepted for display, print, archiving, etc. or just about every computing platform available.
