Note that Microsoft Office does allow for fonts with “installable” embedding privileges to be embedded within Office documents for use in those documents only. In such a case, those fonts would not be accessible to any other application if they weren't otherwise installed on your system.

To your specific case, and assuming that you are running under Windows, Century Gothic is a “look-alike” font for ITC Avant Gothic (one of the PostScript 35 base fonts) and is installed as a standard font by Microsoft in Windows. My tests under both Windows 7 and Windows 10 show that this font is accessible in both Microsoft Office and all Adobe applications including Illustrator.

However, if you are running MacOS, Microsoft does not install Century Gothic and a whole bunch of other Microsoft standard fonts within MacOS. It does have those fonts available for use within Microsoft applications (buried as resources within the Microsoft application packages themselves) and since they are not installed as fonts on your system, they are not available for use by other applications. You must license them separately; you might try myfonts.com.
