I have purchased a lot of Adobe original typefaces ( not knock offs) I am not able to install them in windows font library Postscript fonts ( .PFM &.PFB The latest Windows 10 does not let me install them. it says that they are installed but don't show up in the menus or the windows fonts directory and I am unable to use the faces.

Type 1 fonts are installed by having both the .PFM and .PFB files in a common directory, right clicking on the .PFM file and selecting Install for all users. Dragging and dropping or simply copying those files into the \Windows\Fonts directory won't install them. To install an OpenType CFF, OpenType TrueType, or TrueType font, right click on the .OTF, .TTF, or .TTF file respectively and select install for all users.

I assume you licensed those Adobe fonts (you don't actually purchase fonts, you purchase licenses to use fonts) many years ago. Adobe has not sold licenses for Type 1 fonts (the ones with .PFM and .PFB files) for many years.
Also, be aware that many Windows applications, including the last three versions of any and all Microsoft Office applications on Windows (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) do not support Type 1 fonts anymore and the font names may not show up in their font lists.
