Merci beaucoup. Je ne parle pas beaucoup français, mais j'ai grandi au Canada avec de nombreux francophones. Avoir plusieurs parents et amis qui sont Canadiens français. Mon frère parle couramment et est allé à l'université française moyenne. Je détestais étudier le français à l'école parce que cela nous était imposé, mais malgré cela, j'en ai appris par osmose. Ce n'est pas moi mais Google traduit en train de parler. I took one look but I will have to watch it a few times more to absorb it. Thank you so much for taking the time to make it. One thing, I had to crank the volume to maximum to hear what you were saying. I forgot to lower after watching with predictable results.

Ahh the PCH, brings back a lot of memories. I recall driving up the PCH from San Diego to the Bay Area and beyond in the early 90s in a new sports car. California definitely is better for convertibles than NC.

CS6 will stop working on Macs after Mojave. So I downloaded CC 18 or 19, I forget which. It looks completely alien compared to CS6. But I can used to new UI. But what I found disappointing was the CSS editor. I hope it is just a matter of my not playing with it enough and figuring out how it works. Maybe there is a video but the way it stands now the CS6 CSS editor is more powerful. You just click on a CSS rule in your style sheet and it shows up in the tab on the right side. You then click on it in the tab and the CSS editor shows up. Easy to use because first of all I can see it, the CC version is very different and hard to see what to speak of use. I am hoping that I just have not yet discovered the secret key to using it right. It would be a real shame if CC 18 is a major downgrade from CS 6.

I have purchased many (12) P7 extensions over the last 5 years usually when they were on sale at %25 off. Once paid for they are mine, no subscription. I can use them forever, on any machine running DW PC or Mac. The extensions pay for themselves, they are not a cost, they are an investment. Plus time is money, the amount of time I save by getting a P7 extension is enormous. If it had not been for P7 extensions converting my GoLIve site to DW would have been a real nightmare. P7 Extensions work right out of the box. But, if I have a problem there is a tremendous support team to help me. I now rarely come to this forum because I get all the help I need at P7. I wish that Adobe ran their company as professionally as P7. I have no qualms recommending P7 products to anyone.

I was wondering if "cite" and "q" are protected and if I could make my own style .cite rather that use <cite>, the same with .q rather than <q>? The reason I ask is ".q" shows up in my CSS list but the <q> doesn't and I have to type in the opening and close of the tag by hand. I just don't want to run afoul of some obscure W3 rule by accident and have to search and replace a lot of pages for nothing.

In places like Disqus <i> will result in Italics and <b> will give you bold. Anyway I have my own CSS defined for them. After reading that link in Birnou's text it got me thinking (may be too much) about using separate tags for different things just to be able to style differently later if I wanted. For example I use .i { font-style: italic; } for all Italic work including citations which I have a lot of. But as I was reading that text I realized that I could use the <cite> tag and then style it differently if I want. The same with the <q> tag for inline quotes. It not only gives me smart quotes but I can also style the inline quote any way I want across the document. It can be in a different font, different size or color. I am now looking at all the standard tags listed on the www.w3schools.com and seeing what could be useful to me. I never gave it much thought before but once I started doing more coding it makes a lot more sense. I have another question stemming from this but will ask it in a separate text.

I am using DW CS6. I have italics set up in my style sheets but I notice that when I click on a word in design view and go to "CSS" I also notice that right above it is "Styles" which also has the option to add italics by using <i></i> . This option is not available in code view. And I also notice than in DISQUS you can add tags like <b> and <i> so it seems that these styles are still commonly supported. So my question is: which is better to use your own CSS style or <i></i> and <b></b>?

After corresponding with Al privately we deduced that it is actually a DW issue. After toggling View > Style Rendering > Display Styles several times it resolved the issue. That saved me a lot of work because my next step was to reinstall CS6. I will also try some of Al's other suggestions. So to repeat it is not a PBX issue but a quirk in DW that was responsible.

Thank you for that clarification. Sometimes acronyms make things difficult. Nothing happened. But as I pointed out to Al Sparber it seems to be only related to pages where I have used P7's Popbox Magic and I will take the issue to the P7 Forums.

This an old thread but I will chip in anyway. Jon and Nancy are right. You would be much better off starting fresh but to lessen the pain a lot I would suggest that you use P7 templates. http://projectseven.com/products/templates/pagepacks/typecrafters/index.htm I am older than you and was able to convert my GolIve site to a DW site using P7. But it is still a lot of work.

DW CS6 acting weird in code view Been using DW CS6 for years with no problem but yesterday I must have done something inadvertently or DW just got corrupted in some way. One major problem/annoyance is that if I want to anything useful I have to use design view rather than code view. For example if I want to create a hyperlink. If I highlight the text in code view at the bottom of the page in “Properties” it only shows information about the div ID, Class and CSS panel which is useless, and nothing about HTML which would allow me to make the hyperlink. But if I highlight the same text in design view then I get the normal “Properties Panel” with lots options for both html and CSS. I used to get the same panel when I clicked on the text in code view. Another example. I can only apply CSS to something from design view but not code view when I do a right click. Though I used to do every thing in design view now I only do everything in code view. But, I use a split panel because I use design view as a quick way of finding the code I want to deal with in code view. But I really don’t want to use design view and lose the precision that comes with code view. There are other buggy problems as well that suddenly appeared last night and make using DW irritating and slow. So what have I done wrong that code view is not behaving properly? Do I have to reinstall? I tried using Time Machine to use a version of DW from before the problem started but that didn’t help.
