On a Mac? I let the Capture app import to a specific folder and then delete from the iPhone if that option is chosen. I then go through the normal import process to Lightroom . . .

You mention the word sync above. Are you using the Sync . . . button in the Develop or Library Module? In either of those Modules is the Sync button set to Auto Sync or just Sync . . .

While it is sometimes difficult to take a screenshot of a dragging action before you execute the drop part of the "drag and drop", it might help in this case if you provide a visual example as Johan suggested above of exactly the step involved or the result thanks.

I do that every time I close LR (check catalog integrity) , but then I using a robust syncing tool to perform a controlled backup. I feel I get the best of LR and then the OS that way.

I'm using a synchronising tool to backup my image library and catalogue folders, and that's working for me. Its using an SFTP protocol in a template that looks for changes based on file modification dates, which only amounts to a couple of 100 Mb each sync ATM. Both go to a NAS box currently, but i'm also considering moving some to a cloud solution soon. In your case though I would use the OS to do the copy then re-link later if necessary.

With a range of images selected from the Filmstrip or Grid you can invoke Survey mode on your main monitor with the keystroke N. On your 2nd monitor you can then select either Grid | Loupe | Compare | Survey | Slideshow from the top of screen menu which should be visible. Once they are displayed in Survey mode on your second monitor, using the keystroke E would display the selected image in Loupe mode on your main monitor, but you should still see the Survey selection set on your 2nd monitor.

I dont believe there is LR version-dependent answer for this, but I'm also noting you have used "force" and "lock" in the body of post and subject line respectively. (?) Not sure which version you are using, but there is no Lock Survey available for my version. (Windows ATM)

I have noted other instances of where an Adobe CC update through the CC desktop app has not completed due to other issues. "I walked away at 5% complete, and when I came back another message said the reinstall failed. Unfortunately I didn't get a copy of that message either - I don't know what the error code was." I was wondering if that could have been part of your initial problem . . .?

Hi Maxwell Some of Lightroom's strengths are its cataloguing and metadata abilities, and I would suggest from reading your post carefully that you might not be giving LR a 100% shot at that ability. I'd second Bob's post above though in your case, and then import ALL the remainder from the SD card to a substantial hard drive with plenty of space.

In your case I would probably stick with LR Classic CC, but it sounds like you have moved your original image folders.

A mobile solution might help if you are not in front of your home-office PC, but whether you have ANY time is unknown I suppose. I'd second Johan's response above: syncing a group of images if possible with your edits mentioned ("Hand edits include: cropping, exposure settings, white balance, occasional colour settings, occasional perspective correction, skin blemish removal, sharpening, noise reduction.") would be efficient. Do you have a mobile editing solution?

Can I ask why you want to reduce the file size by 2/3rd's? I'd be concerned also about the fear of a file being ordered with that much pixel information missing . . . However, the other factor of course is the print size you'd be aiming for with that file: larger prints require optimal viewing distances and therefore less file res so you might be OK
