Well, I'm definitively not a legal expert, so I cannot answer that 🙂 My personal understanding is (don't take it as an "official answer from legal department"): If you start FM manually and execute an ExtendScript manually, than everything is on the secure side. If you start FM manually and during start up an initial script / plugin is executed automatically and this script/plugin performs automated publishing – hm. E.g. if this script/plugin runs "forever" and watches e.g. a hot folder and then triggers a publishing process every time something new comes in, than this is very likely no longer covered by the license agreement. (In some way, you would turn the normal FrameMaker into some sort of FrameMaker Server by simulating features or functionalities covered by FMPS.) I tend to say, this is some sort of legal limbo. However, one thing is pretty clear: If you create or use a software, that automatically starts FrameMaker and then automatically executes something, this is not covered by the license. My take on that: With 499$ per month FMPS is reasonably enough priced to setup a professional business publishing process. And it offers quite a lot. So why go on that slippery road of legal limbo and base a professional enterprise process on it, when there is a legally clean and professional solution available at a reasonable price that can give you and your legal department piece of mind 😉 ... Hi Bjørn, Arnis Gubins‌ brought in the key factor here. The EULA for the normal FrameMaker license explicitly prohibits what you are trying to do. Hi Joyce, please check wich version of FrameMaker 2015 you have (> Help > About FrameMaker). I think I remember this was a bug in a very early version of FM2015. This seems to confirm my hunch. When you click on the unresolved insets in the Inset pod, FrameMaker will "jump" to the corresponding object. As you can see in the pod, instead of linking to a real graphic, the reference actually links to some FrameMaker internal filter ini files C:\Program Files\Adobe\FrameMaker6.0\filters\ebgp42.ini and C:\Program Files\Adobe\FrameMaker6.0\filters\ebjpg2.ini . This might have happened when someone opened the document and the graphic was missing (or FrameMaker could not find it anymore, because the location of the book was moved in the file system outside of FrameMaker). Instead of linking to the correct location of the graphic, "someone" linked to these filter files instead (why ever …). You will need to go to these graphics (by clicking on the entry in the pod) and look in an older version of the document (maybe an old PDF) which graphic should be actually there. Then keep the "graphic" selected and go to > File > Import > File , browse to the location where the graphic is located, select it, make sure "Import by Reference" is selected and re-import the correct graphic. This should solve your problem. Not sure about the "Demontage_NL.fm" file. This might also be a wrong link. Or it might be an unresolved text inset. But it actually looks more like the same problem (someone selected the file "Demontage_NL.fm" when asked for assigning a missing graphic. ... View more

Okay, please try the following: Open the document like this and then go to > View > Pods > Insets… This should open the "Insets" pod. There you should see in the first column a list of all types of graphics. Do they all have two "green" arrows, or is one of them "red"? The second column lists all insets. Is there one pointing to cmap000.bin ? If so, click on it and look at the graphic. It might be that this "graphic" will need to be re-referenced to a "real graphic" instead of the cmap000.bin file. ... View more

It sounds to me a little bit like FrameMaker is asking you for a missing graphic and you are pointing to the filter directory instead of the missing graphic? Maybe you can post a few screenshots of what exactly happens? Are you referring to the programming language Open Object Rexx? Is your idea to automate FrameMaker? FrameMaker does not support Object Rexx. Hi Joyce, the key to the solution is the name of the paragraph style, that you are using for the title of the Index file. In your Index File, you have assigned the Paragraph Style "IndexIX" to the title. This creates a conflict, as the paragraph style "IndexIX" is used in FrameMaker to control the formatting of the page numbers in the index: Open your Index file, go to > View > Reference Pages. Press Ctrl+g and the "Go to page" dialog appears: Select "IX" and click "Go". It will take you to the Index Reference Page. There you will see a couple of paragraphs in the Flow "IX". One of them looks like this by default: <$pagenum> This paragraph has the style "IndexIX". The building block <$pagenum> is what creates the page number after your index entry in the index file. There you can also tweak, how page numbers are generated. E.g. if you are using a page numbering scheme like 1-1, 1-2, 1-3 ... 2-1, 2-2, 2-3 etc, you could change this to <$chapnum>-<$pagenum> . That said, you should assign a different paragraph style to your Title for the Index file. Maybe something like Index-Title. Once you have done this, update your book. Then make a right-click on the TOC file in the book and select "Set Up Table of Contents..." The new "Index-Title" should appear in the "Don't include" list of the "Set Up Table of Contents" dialog. Now you can double-click on it to move it into the "Include" list or select it and click the "<--" button. Click "Set" and update your book again. Not the Index Title should appear in the TOC as well (you might need to tweak the new paragraph style "Index-TitleTOC" to match the rest of your TOC Styles (and maybe add a tabulator on the reference page of the TOC). This question is open for quite some time now. My hunch is, that this is, because it's difficult to understand what the problem is. If you want the text "Connector Operations" to appear in the "Cross-Reference" Pod in the "Paragraphs" list on the right side, you will need to add the text to your chapter file "04.1_RESTful_Interfaces.fm". And there it needs to be formatted with the Paragraph Style "H2  Head2" (as you have selected this style in the left list box with the style names). Only then it will appear there.
