Nonsense. MXF works fine with PR, both from Canon and Sony cameras. The only requirement is that you copy the complete contents of your storage card to the hard disk and use Media Browser to import the clips into your project. Using a video converter is ill-advised, takes unnecessary time and causes a generation loss.

Better correct that to: If all you edit is SD (Standard Definition) you will get slow-to-medium SLOW... if you try and edit HD you will get VERY, VERY AGONIZING slow All you need is a better CPU, more memory and better disks (plural). See Tweakers Page - What about Laptops?

CC has been introduced in June last year, CS6 is still available. There are two major differences, CS6 is a perpetual license, CC is only rental. CS6 is frozen, no new features, no new bugs, CC is updated on a regular basis, giving you new features and new bugs. People updating from a previous version of Master Collection can do so for the sum of $ 525, disregarding rebates. That is the end of the story for them. They can use that version perpetually, even in 5 years time. People going for the rental model pay far more, even in the 9 months since introduction, they would have paid $ 85 per month (at least over here) for a sum total of $ 765, only to have the benefit of all the new features AND bugs. In five years time they have paid $ 5.100 if Adobe does not increase prices in the meantime, which is highely unlikely. And after having paid that astronomical amount they are left with zilch when they end their subscription. CS6 users can continue using their license indefinitely. See the difference?

File size = (number of frames) x (bitrate per frame). To reduce size either lower the number of frames (shortening the time-line or FPS) or lower the bitrate per frame (reducing quality).

I am filming on a canon 7d That makes a desktop more attractive than a laptop. I have Magic Bullet Looks suite That requires a high clock speed, not available in a laptop. some warp stabiliation That also indicates a desktop is better than a laptop. Would dual e5-2697 be a downgrade from that? If you go from two quad cores @ 2.26 GHz, DDR1333 and with 8 MB L3 cache to two 12 cores @ 2.7 GHz, DDR1866 with 30 MB L3 cache and call that a downgrade, you must be kidding.

With the 'old' Xeons, only 12 GB memory @ 1333 MHz, with the limited disk setup a Titan would be serious overkill IMO. A GTX 760 would be more than enough, even when you start upgrading your system to a dual E5-2697 v2 with 64 GB. A K4000 is only sensible if you use 10 bit monitors. You would probably profit more from upgrading memory from 6 x 2GB to 6 x 4GB.
