Oh and the footnotes thing - that seems like it needs to be overhauled, if it's too hard update it's current state, then perhaps figure out a way to make it more updateable or something. It hasn't been updated since CS2 - which is a long time now. Surely in 5 or 6 years they could have done something with footnotes to make them better. It might be expensive or whatever for them, but in that timeframe I can only imagine how many millions of dollars have been made with InDesign sales alone. Spanning columns would be a dream. ... That happened me on a 1,500 page book, it crashed around page 20, and I was searching the first 20 - 30 pages for the answer. Until I divided and conquered the pdf by halving it, and I eventually tracked it down to one of the last pages. That was weird. ... View more

Sorry didn't realise you only had one page. If you had 100 pages or 20 pages then you could export 50 or 10 pages at a time. Something wonky with something on your page. Try as suggested above. ... View more

I think there's something wonky on one of your pages that is causing it to crash: Try the divide and conquer method. Export the first half to pdf, then the second half. Then half them again and again, until you find the problem page(s). If both halves export just fine then just combine them in acrobat again. Good round-up Bob, I've been posting your link on multiple forums, it's a good write-up, well done. I can live with spanning footnotes as I do it by hand with the "footnotes to endnotes" script and then a footnote object style, I just have to manually find the superscript and then work with placing the footnotes. It doesn't take too long to do, but it would be better if InDesign just handled it. I'd have some use for things. The different page size is interesting, wondering if I could have a 3 page spread, back cover/spine/front cover, with different sizes, so it would 210 + 5 + 210 in a spread? It certainly looks interesting but I'm very disappointed with once again footnotes are igorned. ... View more

Go to the Master Page. Window>Pages And in the Pages Panle there are two sets of pages, one above the dividing line and one below the dividing line. The set of pages above the dividing line are the master pages. The ones below this line are pages of your document. Click the master pages at the top of the dividing line to access the information in the footer. Then click the page in the pages panel below the dividing line to access your page again. ... I assume you're printing to Postscript then? That doesn't tell me the purpose of your file though. Are you sending to a postscript RIP, or sending the PS through Distiller to make PDFs?
