Thanks. That's much better than before now. It seems right enough. The origin of the tree images are in the centre of them so I adjusted it visually in the "Right" view. I zoomed in as far as it would go and placed the ground, as far as I can see, very slightly above the tree position. And actually I've just checked the tree image and there is a small blank area below the tree image itself which might cause a slight issue too. I could edit the image to take out the slight gap, but the video is good enough for what I want (and I'm in a rush for it today). I can't see an easy way to recreate the exact effect (without doing it more manually) but if you want to use a preset, a similar effect I saw (but not quite the same as the one in the example) is: 1) Create a composition 2) Add a text layer (click on the T and add some text eg. "Pickle" like in the examle) 3) from the top menu, click on "Animation", then "Browse Presets" 4) In the "Presets" window thing, click on "Text" 5) Click on "Tracking" 6) Click on the "Magnify" preset (it should then preview it in a window) 7) If you want that animation applied to your text, right-click on the "Magnify" preset, then select "Place in After Effects". If's a similar effect though not quite the same. Perhaps you can re-create the exact effect by, instead of selecting that preset (and assuming a different preset does have the right effect), selecting the text layer, in the animate button, enabling per character 3d and keyframing the scale somehow - not sure exactly how you scale each character manually though but it's probably somewhere there) ... If you want to apply textures to a cube (or other box) the "Create3DBox" script allows that (though it costs, but you decide on a value). You can also have multiple cubes in the composition (but each time you add a cube, if you want it to have a texture, you need to re-apply the texture to the sides - you can't just say to duplicate the first cube with all it's textures). ... One site that sells AE systems (not sure if I'm allowed to say the name or if it would be flagged as advertising, but it starts with P), says that: 4 core i7 6700K 4 to 4.2 Ghz gives the best performance over those with many cores, including Xeons - for 2D anim. On another page for recommended systems they say the Core i7 6850K 6 core 3.7 to 4.0 Ghz is the best for 2d anim (some AE operations are said to work better on other CPUs). I suppose it depends on the version of After Effects you are using (some versions - eg. earlier? may be better than others for using more cores etc.). eg. does using an older version of After Effects allow you to use more cores/better multiprocessing better than the more recent one? I expect the fact you are rendering/viewing at 4K will probably be a big reason for it being slower. Maybe that system would go much faster at 1080p/1440p (or is it the monitor only that is 4K but the compositions aren't 4K?). I'd also check the Windows Task Manger/Performance thing to see what's being run high/maximum. Possibly even more RAM might help with the size/type of renders (eg. 4K) you are doing (perhaps especially if "render multiple frames simultaneously" is enabled?)? Perhaps also configuring After Effects differently in the memory & multiprocessing or media & disk cache settings might help. I think it's probably recommended against it but perhaps AE could be set up to use the GPU for previews etc. (I think it was recommended not to enable OpenGL - even though that may give faster previews - and I think that might be removed from later versions)? Also, is there any special setting that needs to be edited if the GPU wasn't in the list of supported AE video cards - so that After Effects (depending on the version) will support it and use it it to it's best capabilities (eg. I would have expected the H264 codec to also be shown in the output module settings. Maybe that's been moved to Adobe Media Encoder only in that version of AE. If the "More Formats in AME" is enabled you could try that to see if rendering as H264 is an option there (if H264 is what you wanted to render it as and not another video container/codec). Or if you can load the AE project into AME try rendering from there as H264 (I've got an earlier version of AE and it always lists H264 as an option in the output module). ... View more

"Corner Pin" or "CC Power Pin". See effect->Distort then either of those. I'm assuming all layers are 2D. Probably CC Power Pin is better. Make sure the image/video you are pinning onto the monitor is the same aspect ratio as the monitor (eg. if the monitor is 1.78:1 aspect ratio, make sure your image/anim you pin to it is also 1.78:1). Thanks. Yes it's doing it. I'm having to reposition them in the pre-comp after reducing the pre-comp comp size using figures based on trial and error (since you can't just draw a box around it). My guess would be to check the keyframes of the one note that is jumping very carefully. Zoom in to that section in the timeline. Checking for multiple keyframes in that section (though you say there's no extra/stray keyframes so that may not be a problem), and also scrubbing that section of the timeline to see where it occurs/what keyframes might be involved. I'd also check that section and the keyframes in the Graph editor to see if there's something unusual happening (if the graph looks wrong, maybe also check the interpolation methods, the bezier curves/handles). You can get explainer videos done or buy specialized software for just a few dollars that do that kind of thing for next to nothing I have a cheap whiteboard anim program that I can use for whiteboard videos but it's a bit limited. I could use After Effects after it for anything required that can't be done in it. I haven't seen any good Explainer video creation programs available "for just a few dollars". Most of the ones I've seen, especially those that allow commercial use, have a recurring monthly charge and would work out quite a lot per year, and you'd never actually own it. If you know of any desktop PC programs that are a one-off reasonable fee (especially if under £100) that would make producing animated explainer videos very easy, fast but also professional looking could you tell me the names of any? I was mostly thinking about the simpler 2D anim type (animated explainer, promotion, whiteboard, etc.) rather than full visual effects. Anything that can hopefully be done reasonably easily, reasonably fast, etc. I looked at buyer requests and, though I can't see any right now I thought I saw some before with budgets >$100. But even with the lesser paying gigs I was thinking if I could do enough of them it might be possible to make a full time living, even if it's not the best paying job (I don't have the best paying job now). About the visual effects company(s) going bankrupt. I thought I read about one where one reason I think was that they weren't getting paid any extra for every revision they had to do or something. Maybe if the only gigs that are done are those (believed to be) cost effective ones and you only allow a certain number of revisions before you charge extra for each revision, you may be able to make an okay income. -- Any other advice would be welcome. When I click "seperate dimensions" and then just select the X keyframes, it then won't let me apply the smoother to the "Spatial Path". It will only let me apply the smoother to the "Temporal Graph". I think you're probably right, I think I'll just have to move each keyframe manually in the X axis to a lesser amount (and I'll do it in the normal view). I was just hoping there might be some other, faster way of doing it (while ensuring the motion was exaclty the same but reduced by a certain percentage on the X axis). But if not that's what I will use thanks. Unless I can export the layer's keyframe values (X & Y positions) eg. as a .csv, then run a little program on them then re-import them (assuming there's no built in X axis motion reducer). ...
