As my Photoshop just crashed, I tried to recover the file from my "Autorecover" folder. But suddenly in CC 2024 it isn't there any more. In my older Photoshop versions the folder was created properly. Any ideas where the folder can be found now? It's not in "..\\Users\$USER\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2024".

That's not great news. Maybe just take a look at some of the code of CC2022, which works perfectly fine.

No changes at all. Still completely unusable. I'm back to Photoshop 2021 for the unforseeable future.

When you think that the new update fixes the sticky tools issue, Adobe manages to surprise you. Let's enjoy another month of being annoyed. Super. I guess, they just stopped carrying.

Please fix that. There's a pinned comment somewhere, that it will be addressed from August. And it's still in there. This impacts working a lot as it happens every few minutes. And it's not only the Hand tool that's stuck, the selection box sometimes gets stuck as well and I have to click for the selection process to end. Releasing the mouse button doesn't do it any more. Maybe you can use AI to figure the mouse behaviour out. It's useless for everything else. I'm really tempted to go back to Photoshop 2021 which works like a charm.

Any ideas when this is going to be fixed? IT#s over a month now that I have to deal with this bug and it's impacting my work every day. Please, Adobe - do something about it. Once again you've proven, that updating PS these days is not the best decision. Useless features and new bugs is all one gets.

I had the same issue. It's messed up. After the CC update the settings seem to be reset without any reason. You can try to go into the preferences and enable "Show older versions" (should be somewhere in there). Maybe that helps. I found that too late and ended up intalling Photoshop instead of updating. Don't do that - this might erase your Photoshop settings. It did on my PC.

In the meantime I've restored all my settings. Luckily I still had the Photoshop settings folder from Photoshop CC 2022 and just copied that one over. But the issue is simple. I opened the CC app yesterday and was told to update it, which I did. After that some preferences of the app were gone. Only Adobe Reader, Fresco and UXP Developer Tools were listed as installed, although I have Photoshop CC 2023 (24.5) and Lightroom classic (up to date) installed as well. Those were listed as having to be "Installed" and not "Updated". This might be because the "Show older programs" checkbox was unchecked (but it must have been checked before the update). But as I used pretty up to date versions of those programs, they should not be considered "older versions" anyway. Also my language was suddenly set to "German" although I had set it to "English" before the CC app updated itself. I'm on a German OS but always use my programs in English which I explicitely had set before.

And after updating from 24.5 to 24.6 all my settings are gone now. Congrats, Adobe. You really know how to mess things up. How about using your AI-mania to give you suggestions on how to develop user-friendly software?

It seems as if the option to show older apps was unchecked after the update. And for some reason my install language was switched to German although it was set to English before. Now I have to uninstall and reinstall Photoshop as it's in German now. Why are you making thing so unconveniant for users without any reason at all? At least ask if the settings for the CC app should be preserved before the update.

After updating the CC app for Windows, Photoshop and Lightroom CC are not listed as installed any more. Only Acrobat Reader, Fresco and UXP Developer Tools are. Please fix that.

Thanks for the tip. I'll stick with Togglerator though as I sometimes use the eraser for longer and holding a key throughout all that is too annoying.

As the issue is still pending and wasn't fixed in the recent update, I've adjusted the test files and uploaded them again. With those it should not be hard to debug the issue. Test Files Just open the two files and CTRL-drag the camel from "Kamel.psd" into the other file with all the squares in it. Get yourself a coffee while Photoshop remains unresponsive. And this is a small file. Depending on the complexity of the smart filter and the size of the canvas, this can take way longer. And please consider making "Clear Smart Filters" available when multiple layers are selected. Right now it's grayed out.

It would be very helpful if we could move multiple layer comps at the same time. And additionally, by using the ALT-key, being able to duplicate them as well. As it is now, it's very tedious to do so.

Well. I have to use CTRL to access the Move tool from within other tools. I always use it while using the brush tool. And adding the right mouse click shows the layer selection pop-up, like it would appear when using the Move tool as well. So CTRL-Right Click shows the layer selection pop-up from other tools. However with the Gradient tool that combination doesn't work. Pressing the CTRL key switches to the Move tool - that works. But additionally clicking the right mouse button, doesn't show the layer selection pop-up. I tried it in PS2022 and PS2021 and there it works fine. So it must be PS 2023 bug.

With the Gradient Tool selected, the layer selection popup doesn't show when I hit CTRL-Right Mouse. It works with other tools like Brush, Eraser etc.

This might not be the related to the issue that I also had with smart filters being recalculated too often. That one was reproduced. This one, I don't know. It might just be because of the massive performance drop when using layer effects. I have no smart filters in the file that causes the freeze. It's just that Photoshop becomes so laggy at some point that it might no gain back control from doing all the layer effect calculations in the background. That's clearly visible in the Task Manager where the file thread is constantly using CPU and GPU power even with Photoshop being frozen. It seems to loop through the same processes again and again which is reflected in the percentage output. Here's a screenshot of the Task Manager at the moment when Photoshop was frozen. As you can see the GPU performance reaches 30% sometimes.

Sometimes it works for hours, maybe even days. So a workaround would cost quite a bit of time in the end and is also more straining on the hands. And then there's muscle memory which is not easy to overcome. The best option is to save my work every minute when I'm duplicating a lot and stay with the quick procedure.

Aaaand once again Photoshop freezes while duplicating smart objects by ALT-dragging them. And again the crashpad handler process was launched but no crash log window appears which means, no chance to get my work back. Thanks Adobe for wasting another 20 minutes of my work time that I have to reproduce now.
