@dougb853 I'm thinking make a duplicate of the Sequence (append something descriptive to the name like "- restore color"), select all the Clips in the Timeline, and then choose Edit > Remove Attributes.

@nyx_9580 Sorry to hear you're having trouble with the audio in your export. Compressed audio formats sometimes work well for reference inside of After Effects, but then don't hold up to being recompressed when exporting. Try converting the AAC source audio file being used in After Effects to a linear PCM WAV or AIF outside of After Effects. Check the resulting WAV or AIF for sound quality and assuming that there is nothing unexpected, selecct the AAC file in After Effects and use File > Replace Footage to swap it out. Another thing to double-check is that your audio is stored locally and not on network storage.

Are you thinking something like this? The animated GIF lowers the gradient quality, so I included some 16-bit color depth stills for reference.

I believe that "Use Maximum Render Quality" is disabled for all of the H264 presets included with Media Encoder. Have you tried setting an existing preset, enabling "Use Maximum Render Quality" and then clicking the Save Preset? This will add a custom preset at the top of the preset list with this enabled for use later. You'll also find it in the Preset Broswer panel under User Presets & Groups.

To add to Peru Bob's reply, here are some things to do:
Set Playback Resolution set to 1/4 or 1/8 and Paused Resolution set to Full.
Apply Adjustment Layers and Effects after you've locked picture (that is, you're not likely to make any more changes to the structure of the story that you're telling with your edit).
For Time Remapped clips: Right-click and choose Render and Replace. You can right-click and choose Restore Unrendered later, but it's common to leave a disabled duplcate of the Time Remapped clip in the Timeline.
If performance is still lagging, consider transcoding your camera originals to ProRes 422 LT (if not for this project, the next one), making sure that your storage media is large enough and fast enough to play 2160p24 ProRes 422 LT.

@dudeoflife123 Try using a more recent version of Premiere Pro that has Auto Tone Mapping. If still using 23.x, we can install 24.x and/or 25.x along side 23.x. Premiere Pro User Guide > Color Correction and Grading > Timeline tone mapping. @Joshua268007771t0z It would be great if color management was simple enough that we don't have to think about it, but I'm not sure any phase of video editing or video post production is something to jump into without at least some training or mentoring. At the very minimum, I'd also read Premiere Pro User Guide > Color Correction and Grading > Display Color Management.

That's the Preview Area.
Yeah, when the Project panel or Bin panel is arranged to be wide rather than tall, it does leave a lot of unused space.
We can show or hide the Preview Area (Project/Bin tab pop-up menu > Preview Area), but are you thinking that it would be helpful to maximize or minimize the vertical height (in the same way we can maximize and minimize Video Tracks and Audio Tracks in the Timeline) when the Preview Area is showing?
I've always thought that the Preview Area should be in the Info Panel, but I get that it is meant to provide similarity to the Poster Preview found at the top of the Project panel in Adobe After Effects.

If the Contents of the Shape Layer includes Transform: Shape, you can change the Scale from 100, 100 to -100, 100.
If the Contents of the Shape Layer does not include Transform: Shape, you can change the Layer Scale from 100, 100 to -100, 100.
A downside of either method is that there’s no way to release the negative scale to easily edit the path later.
Another approach is to select the Path, copy it, jump to Illustrator, paste, use the Reflect Tool to flip the path, copy it again, and paste it back into After Effects while the path is still selected. For best results, make sure that the Composition Frames Size and the Illustrator Artboard size match. And yeah, that’s clunky and probably not something you’d want to do often.

Would it be correct to say that you want the layer behind the one you’re drawing on to be visible while recording, but not appear in the saved recording? I don’t think any screen recording utility offers that feature.
If the layer behind your drawing layer can be colorized green or blue, you could use Ultra Key in Premiere Pro or Keylight in After Effects to key it out. However, this would also remove any green or blue present in the drawing layer you want to keep (Keylight has an "Inside Mask" option to address this).
Alternatively, you could try recording your work on the drawing layer as a Photoshop Action. Then, once finished, screen record that Action playing back with a new layer while all other layers are hidden. A challenge with this approach is that the Action plays back as fast as your computer allows, which might make the timing feel unnatural.

Try targeting all the Tracks at the left and then using In Mark and Out Mark or Mark Clip to cut and paste or cut and paste insert. Make sure no Boundaries are selected so the the cut action takes whatever is between the In to Out.

Are you using Premeire Pro 24.x or 25.x? If so, it might be easier to edit without that captions and then generate Captions once you've locked picture (that is, you are no longer going to make changes to the edit). However, the Caption Clip Boundaries in the Captions Track behave like Video Clip Boundaries and Audio Clip Boundaries. As such, we can shuffle, slip, slide, cut, copy, paste, paste insert, extend, use Q or W, lift and extract all three together as needed. It's a some extra clicks, though, as a corresponding Caption isn't linked.

@vevegirl23 Sorry to hear that you're having an issue using the Roto Brush Tool. While it is not necessarily fast, it usually works as expected. Since the Paint effect is included with After Effects, it sounds like there may be an issue with your installation of After Effects. To troubleshoot this, I would take the time to uninstall After Effects, restart, and then install it again. When running the uninstaller, you'll be presented with an option to leave the preferences or not - you can choose either one.

If the image is a raster based format (Photoshop, JPEG, PNG, TIFF), then in Adobe Photoshop use Filter > Neural Filters > Super Zoom to up-convert the image and import that into your After Effects project. I'd use the Neural Filter option to create a new document so that you can have the original image and the up-converted image.
If the image is a vector based file format (Illustrator, EPS, SVG), then enable the Continuously Rasterize Layser Switch in the Composition Timeline. It's the second switch from left to right under the Switches column.

@Francisco27189501xajw In After Effects, changing the percentage is changing the time of the source footage. In Premiere Pro, changing the percentage is changing the speed of the source clip. And yes, it's always been this way. If we prefer one over the other, we can copy and paste between After Effects Timelines and Premiere Pro Timelines. So, to adjust source footage based on speed, copy and paste it from an After Effects Timeline to a Premiere Pro Timeline, make the speed adjustments, and then copy and paste the clip back. For best results, the Timelines should be at the same frame size and frame rate and the After Effects Composition duration should match or exceed the In to Out Durationb f the Premiere Pro Sequence.

@zeezooklives_0804 As Mylenium mentioned, if you are experiencing something similar then you'll want to reach out to the BorisFX help center for assistance with this crash. You can do so by submitting a support request here. Of course, support is only for trial or licensed versions of BCC - not cracked versions as @Leon272796700nhi later indicated. I run Boris Continuum Complete and when I get crashes like that it usually means launching the Borix FX Application Manager or Boris FX Hub and installing an update.

Thank you for sharing what worked for you.
There's a very, very important workflow consideration to take note of here when it comes to maintaining picture quality and sound quality throughout our workflow from start to finish.
H.264 and HEVC/H.265 are great delivery formats but not strong choices for source footage, edit settings, or edited master settings.
Based on your delivery needs, I would have opted to work at 16-bpc in After Effects and either import the corresponding After Effects project into Premiere Pro or, more likely, render to Apple ProRes 422 HQ and ProRes 4444 (with alpha) at 16-bpc in Adobe Media Encoder. These files would then be used in a Premiere Pro timeline with Video Previews set to ProRes 422 HQ, followed by exporting an edited master in Apple ProRes 422 HQ. This workflow ensures consistently high quality while also taking advantage of Smart Rendering in Premiere Pro for faster exports when using the "Match sequence preview settings" preset.
If the ProRes edited master can be uploaded—even though it’s a large file—then upload that. Otherwise, encode the edited master to the required delivery format, keeping in mind that many delivery formats do not support 16-bpc, may have lower color sampling (4:2:0 instead of 4:4:4 or 4:2:2), and require careful selection of bitrates to maintain picture quality for first-generation delivery formats, whether it’s MPEG-2, H.264, H.265, or another format.
Just to reiterate: Yes, working with settings optimized for editing and maintaining picture quality means dealing with larger file sizes.

To maintain the appearance of a Composition while the project is set to 32-bits per channel, we need to export to a format that supports 32-bits per channel. When setting up a render, we can check Output Modile Options > Main Options > Video Output > Depth to see which bit depths are supported by the current format.
H264 is limited to Millions of Colors (or 8-bits per channel). As such, you want to work with the project set to 8-bits per channel as well.
From you screenshot, it looks like you are also getting some macro-blocking. The bit rate for 4K (2160) should be 40Kbps. 15Kbps is for 2k (1080).

Hi @Stefan Cargoski
While creating a loop cycle is simply a matter of keyframing the animation so that it returns to how it started, it can be a little tricky.
Something that I find helpful: For effects that have an "Evolution" property, expand Evolution Options and enable "Cycle Evolution." This tells After Effects that the evolution needs to loop seamlessly. Then, make sure that the Evolution is keyframed such that it returns to a like value. For example, if the first value is 0x+0.0 degrees, then the value it returns to needs to be 1x+0.0 (or any whole number for the Revolutions).
Pictured: Fractal Noise with Cycle Evolution options enabled for creating a seamless loop.

@Will27540326c9gz It looks like something that Safe Mode disables is causing the lag. When you opened the project in Safe Mode, did After Effects show a dialog box that lists missing effects? It's usually something in that list that's causing the unexpected behavior. Let's say you have 8 effects in that list. With Effects Manager, you could try enabling four of them and work for a little while. Then try enabling 2 of the remaining four and work for a little while. Eventually, you should be able to narrow it down and then reach out to the publisher to see if there are any known issues. Anything third party may need to be considered, so in addition to effects this includes any add-ons or extensions.
