Not sure i follow your script, but how does this react to data merge? Data merge simply creates an output of all visible layers. So we could easily manually toggle each layer and then either export or do merge data set.  Can you explain how your script actually works in this case? Because if i understand, it simply changes a text in a layer and toggle layer on and off   EDIT i guess if you added data merge into the layer-visibilty toggle, then it would be useful. Perhaps im mixing things up. I guess your script can be simply run on each showing data set.   EDIT 2 I guess your script can work. I thought a bit more about it. When you do the data-merge. it will also do all the layers. So we can a merged document with all those layers. Then we rnu your script. Still not working when i do that. Indesign accepts the same file without any issue   EDIT Found my issue, I initially started it in Excell, but i went nuts of that annoying dialog about "You sure you want save in this format" and getting stuck in that save dialog loop. So i moved to Visual Code Studio. But i added spaced in the headers so i could read them better, right after the comma.  Indesign doesnt matter about, Illustrator is kinda strict. Instead of Adobe adding all nice and dany BS stuff. They should fix native core functionality. I find working, precise working, in Adobe Illustrator becoming a hustle. I cant seem to work perfect anymore using snapping and line-art preview mode, since the GPU preview mode is so hindered by issues and seeming bugs. Its easy to say, yeah work in CPU mode. But the issue is. They have striped the, old regular, CPU of so much functionality. That working in CPU mode is now sluggish and slow. Each time i try to align a vector point or anchor point, i need to double check in CPU mode because GPU modes simple will show this random offset. It happens on lines, corners all kind of items ... @Disposition_Dev  I came to thread again. Because indeed if a compound was made by sub groups. We can loop through it again some how. I tried using code to expand style and trim pathfinder. It does work on simple compound shape items but not ones with nested groep.   Things is compound shape can actually have a different method of color in terms of a group. @Myra Ferguson @dzgnr89  Actually there is, when you use regular select oe group select tool, once you click and drag, you can press E. @meriware    I know its old. But... Why not use Photoshop in this case. Since you said you use normalized images. You could do a batch on the folders. Simply pick the color add it to an swatch Folder and possibly save it as aco file or something else.  But i guess you already did the work creating the CSV file. That must have been tons of work! ... I mailed him/her   Well it seems, at least i think, it can not read pantone colors, even though they are basical stored as LAB values. If i make a PMS color with its lab values according to a color book file, it works. But a swatch file which has a pms color from a color book returns the error. Hope he chime in ... View more

@c.pfaffenbichler  I know its an old thread, but i was trying some of the code you pasted. I believe it contains errors. its asks for        ColorSwatches.getColor       But since no color is added, it simply return undefined, its declared as a list, when _runtime starts. At least, thats how i think its working.  Unless          self.colorsByName = {};       gets filed by some other script which is then missing  I only see      self.colorsByName      being used, when a color is added by      ColorSwatches.prototype.addColor     EDIT Nevermind it does work, after checking, i was requesting wrong name. Thats why it returns undefined. Im going to add a catch for that. But it doesnt seem to like LAB or PMS colors. REturn work colortype.;  ColorSwatches.LAB_TYPE are defined as index numbers, INT n umber. But Pantone names return 4 digit number?. Kinda weird ... View more

Its also not defaulting because i believe, the descriptor stores the last setting. Unless you dont use the store function for that particular part, it will always store it and always revert to its last used setting At least, thats how i use this script. i have a custom version of a mixed one. I answer, so others can see it as well. But the same code works just fine. How ever, the parameter you can feed into the colorPicker function seems different. Where in Photoshop app.showColorPicker(true) will set the forgroundColor on return and also inputs that color so it doesnt start at black. In illustrator this works different, but the picker still shows   var storedDigitalColor = new RGBColor(); exportInfo.options.customDigitalColor = "128-128-128" digitalColor = exportInfo.options.customDigitalColor.split('-'); storedDigitalColor.red = digitalColor[0]; storedDigitalColor.green = digitalColor[1]; storedDigitalColor.blue = digitalColor[2]; completedDigital = app.showColorPicker(storedDigitalColor);   This example is from setting the color from a stored JSON file. There is however a mismatch, probably due to rounding of numbers which illustrator does. If you also do the last one, so it should overlap the first one. In outline mode we see a mismatch. small gap, meaning a mismatch         I found this by using a different method.  I tried a method using the "Pie" slicing options. I noticed this showed a mismatch end, a gap so to speak. Then tried this method and again, same mismatch and a gap again same gap, using pie slice options   I used the same number; 6.92deg I even tried 360/52 to make sure it was exactly the same Pie slice settings                           All nice and dandy that illustrator says it can do math, but its not reliable. See what a calculator comes to with same 360/52 Issue with illustrators math and rounding of numbers                   Issue is kinda fixed by using a float of 3. so paste in this number. Illustrator again rounds it, but now to 3 decimal. 6.923 gives much better result No visible hole at regular zoom   ... View more
