It used to be possible to change what type of Remove was being applied to a given Remove spot. It seems you can't switch the mode of a spot any more?

Having the AI remove in Camera Raw is great, but I wish it it could be trained to do what it is branded for - "Remove" - rather than "Replace" - So often you try and take people out of the background and all three AI generative options are not the background but a different set of people. Remove should look to produce more minimalist results, without the thing being removed, rather than a different thing. Cheers.

Still having this issue with Bridge v13 (and 12) refreshing the whole cache usually solves it temporarily. For a program literally tasked with managing files, it is a shame it remains so flawed.

Making the Content tabs even worse is the limitation on the length of folder name- it truncates the folder name by trimming out the middle section of the folder name - so if the folder is named "2023_01_20_Water Meadows" it becomes "2023_01....er Meadows" - not very handy if you are switching between folders in the tabs...

I am seriously struggling to get work done today - for me Bridge nearly messed up a job by duplicating thumbnails, miscounting images, being very slow (51seconds to delete 180 jpegs!) (13.0.2.626 on Windows 10) When it duplicated a bunch of thumbnails I assumed a small error, then it proceeded to export them (so I had some images in triplicate) whilst ignoring some other images. (Have tried clearing prefs/cache - all the usual (almost daily) rituals when working with Adobe.)

When using the crop tool on a Win 10 PC with GTX980Ti here with latest Nvidia Drivers (and previous) and ACR 1388 we are getting screen corruption whilst rotating the image to crop. This can be avoided using CPU only, but is slower as the rotating of the RAW to crop is obviously quite a high workload. (Obviously having the legacy crop option available would also have solved this issue, as the image would not need to be able spin..)
Interestingly (or not) this flicker is not recorded by a screengrabber, (Acethinker Screengrabber Pro) - which could be a clue perhaps?
I would suggest this level of flicker/corruption could be a danger for those with photosensitive epilepsy. By the way, it would be great if the topics below included the plugin that this board refers to.

Ignore my comment, it is only ACR where this doesnt work, because users of that don't matter.

If XnViewMP (or any of the myriad of better-than-bridge alternatives) were able to open raws in bulk direct to ACR without opening Ps I would jump in an instant. I personally use PhotoMechanic to ingest, label and cull images before I open the trimmed down folder in Bridge (so it doesn't have to do any real work!)

I believe they have broken it. For me it is also slow, with copying/deleting even rating issues (it misses rating files) Mine also seems to have issue with doing anything in the background.

Well that example does appear to have a huge amount of UI Space wasted, or is that not your example?

Thank you Mr Bloodaxe, I totally accept your findings for your situation. Of those that have issue with the UI it does tend to be the less-retired, high-volume photographers who really noticed the slowdown in productivity, whilst those who are able to spend more time per image are probably affected less by the extra seconds it takes for every image for a quick turnaround. For me personally the new UI initially doubled my workload, that has reduced since down to only an extra 30% (from an average of 40sec per image to around a minute) , which could easily be retrieved if our UI suggestions were put in place alongside the new UI. (I feel no need to stoop down to respond to the resident dog, whose knowledge I respect but attitute I detest.)

Mr Bloodaxe, great to hear you and ACR get on so well. How many images a year do you process through ACR? Also do you still use Lightroom Classic?

Well, It is a fact that my previous vote on this subject had been "discounted" and that threads have been merged with the subject becoming "off topic" to many of the merged-in threads, (ie. the Crop tool!) as well as advice that is out of date. I agree that Adobe is of course free to ignore votes, in fact it is questionable why they are there at all. ACR is many times better to use than when 12.4 or whatever it was first released, and the 2 years of development to now 15.1 or whatever we are on have made many improvements and some great steps forward. However, there remain plenty of things that were easier and faster in 12.1, that could still come in time, and still lessons in that UI. In the meantime, we keep pushing for further improvements, and I think we have ALL helped with getting where we are now. I do not believe our efforts on here have been as pointless as you continue to insist.

Why has my idea for a new crop tool for ACR been moved to this thread? It has nothing to do with the UI. It is a feature.

There are several reasons the number of upvotes and votes in general have been low is that the number does not tot up when threads are merged. When I returned to revisit this thread recently my vote was not on there - it was 78 when I clicked it, who knows exactly how many have been lost overall with threads moving, disappearing, marked as "solved" etc. Another reason is that this place to vote for change is tucked away. Not many of the (presumably hundreds of thousands at least) users of ACR will have ever been to this "community." Acting on the detail of what we were commenting on became ever more frustrating, partly from the attitude of some, particularly those who mostly use Lightroom, or those that don't throughput thousands of photos to clients a year, or both. I get that the interface of ACR will never return to the slick, efficient UI it was before, and I personally have moved on to using alternative software where possible. I'd still very much like an option to have the Legacy crop mode that Photoshop has.

I would like to suggest a totally new and shiny cropping option for cropping images in ACR that works just like the legacy mode in Photoshop, (and ACR pre version 13) Basically it keeps the image still while you crop, like you would if you were cropping an image in real life.

This sounds like mine too - Was left for an hour with a folder of less than 200 Sony raws it was still working hard with no explanation. Compacting cache (as the blue popup suggested) actually reduced the CPU workload from 35% to 7%, till it finished, when it returned to 35% again.

Exact same problem here. Bridge process is sitting muching 40% of CPU without apparently doing anything. Feels like preview/thumbnail creation/saving is going wrong.

This xmp corruption issue is still ongoing. Take a look at this xmp file created in Bridge, which states that the file was created a week earlier than it was, on a different lens than it was (ie. it was taken apparently at 85mm on a 100-400mm lens. - Bridge has conflated two different xmps relating to different folders after moving the image around.

Evolution is not always progress and often ends in extinction. We had simple, logical steps that could have helped some people without changing anything for those happy with the changes, but they have been trampled sadly by obfuscation, deflection and agression. Adding an option for legacy cropping etc was hardly asking for square wheels.
