@eTaylorC , If we ever use color to make something pop in the UI (like the blue share button in the upper right hand corner), this neutral color mode will pull out that color so it won't be distracting.

@Lexi309414846zht , this (scaling layer styles) is a great request; I've created a ticket for the team to look at; can't make promises about it getting done, but the first step is at least done.

@D Fosse , when things go south, can you try checking the string that appears in the status bar next to 'GPU mode' at the bottom of the doc?

@D Fosse , thanks for the detailed observations., We did some work recently to make handling multiple windows more memory efficient; that might have something to do with undermining several GPU-backed features. Save for Web is an odd outlier, as is Adaptive wide angle; while we have not made changes to S4W that I am aware of, this list still gives us some rocks to turn over; thanks!

@leon_6771 , are you able to create a new admin account to try running that way? Found an issue from Nov '23 where that resolved the liquify disk error problem.

@D Fosse , so you're currently having all these issues on your system? Maybe try turning off 'multithreaded compositing' in prefs > performance screen, restarting and seeing if that works better?
@Rafaelis I checked reports for a couple of months and found that we had one case where the scratch disk error while using Liquify was fixed when used under a new admin account; that may just be shorthand for 'corruped installation', and if you are unwilling to try with an new account, then we're still stuck. But can you give that a try?

We did a little investigation into this; the ACR filter is a fully separated plugin, unlike these other built-in filters. ACR does not have a handy way to pull the image stack data out of Photsohop and present it in the UI. Not an unsolvable problem, but one that is more complex because it bridges two teams, and the ACR team has to balance Ps integration needs against all the other things that live around the ACR ecosystem (eg, Lightroom, Express, PsWeb).

Photoshop Beta now includes a new 'Technology Preview' called Focus Mode.
Focus mode limits the appearance of non-essential messages so that you can stay in the flow when using the program. With this new option enabled:
The Welcome screen will not include 'What's new' feature descriptions
The 'What's new' message will not appear when Photoshop is launched
Blue in-product alerts promoting discovery and use of certain features will be suppressed
The color mode preference will be auto set to 'neutral Color Mode'
To enable Focus Mode, start Photoshop, open Preferences, scroll down to the 'Technology Previews' section and check 'Enable Focus Mode'. Restart for changes to take effect.
Let us know what you think, and whether you want to see additional behaviors linked to this new feature.

There is a feature being tested in the Beta version of Photoshop called 'Focus Mode'.
Go to Preferences, Technology Previews, and check 'Enable Focus Mode'. This will reduce many of the notifications that you might be referring to. Only works in the Beta, for now.

This dxcore.dll dependency doesn't work on older operating systems that are outside Ps system requirements. The system info that was shared in this thread is from 2018, 4 years earlier than our min support version from Oct 2022. That explains why we didn't catch the problem before we released our last update.
While we have implemented a workaround in the Beta that appears to work for older systems, are watiing for the full testing cycle to complete to move that over to the regular release. For those of you restricted from accessing the Beta, our apologies for the frustrating situation, which is only made worse if your organization also does not allow you to get the Beta version.
One workaround, if you have access, can be to use Photoshop web until the release comes out; not all features are there, but maybe enough for you to make progress, and the files are 100% the same as desktop Ps; you will be able to open them in desktop, too, when you are up and running again. If your plan includes it, you can get to the web version of Ps from this icon in the Creative Cloud app:

@KeithB_FL , did you recently install a Windows update to that system? If you did, could you roll them back and see if the problem goes away?
Does this article work for you, or are you deployed with your enterprise policies?

We're investigating whether we modified our dependency on that dll. It's a system level dll, and it's possible, given what @andy_7488 said, may have been changed with a Windows update. I wonder if rolling back the update might restore things? If that's too much to stomach, I'll update here when we wrap up our investigation.
Noting that this seems to be affecting pre Win 11 systems; nobody saying their Win 11 system is affected, as far as I know so far.

The Photoshop compositor does clip off-canvas pixels when de-selected, but that can be avoided, as some have pointed out, by converting the desired layer into a smart object first (that will not get clipped, but you also must edit its contents isolated from the composition, so not a great solution), or just pre-emptively working on a larger canvas to give yourself enough room to slide stuff out of the way while you need to.
It is possible that this changed 3 or so years ago; we modernized our compositor back then and while most functionality was seamlessly preserved, this one feature may have been dropped.

I saw a thread where an Illustrator had an older version of the Beta, and an update fixed it. We will be having an update soon, so you may be able to try that.
Elsewhere, I've seen some customers have success with this error by reinstalling their video drivers (nVidia).
If neither of these options work, can you tell us what version of the OS you are using?

Hi @Mimi.V ,
Glad you found a workaround. The message you are seeing is coming from the new Substance 3D Viewer plugin, which explains how that older version of Photoshop even knows anything about a newer version of Ps. The plugin is being installed with all versions of Ps Beta, so it's getting into the mix here.
The intent is for the plugin to intercept the import function and offer to place the obj file into a new smart object, and from there you could use the Substance Viewer 3D application to make certain edits to the 3D file (outside of Photoshop), then pass that back to Ps in a smart layer.
Can you share the OBJ file in question? It would be great to understand why it isn't being processed by the Substance 3D Viewer plugin properly.

Is your 'contiguous' option selected in the options along the top? That could also produce this result. Check it to see if it behaves differently.
I was theorizing that anti-aliasing of the painted shape could be the explanation for the halo. At some point the fill algorithm may hit partially transparent pixels and fail to fill those areas.

Hi @eunji_7200 , you might get this unexpected result if you filled the layer below the paint layer. Be sure to target the same layer as the painted object and I think you'll see the usual and familiar paint bucket behavior.

@sourabh_4333 , I see two different GPU models; you should stick to a single vendor, now especially since OpenGL is being phased out. Fully turn off one of those GPUs to see if that helps.
