Hi David, I was going through this myself! Just went through a computer upgrade and could see on my old computer having the +/- zoom level at the top in the toolbar, but couldn't get it to come back for the life of me, even in the old version of Adobe set. Then I noticed that the tool bar with the +/- zoom appeared at the bottom of the PDF when I first opened a doc and hovered the mouse towards the bottom. I then noticed an icon on that toolbar to the far right that had an icon of a toolbar with an up arrow over it and when I clicked, it went back to the top toolbar!! Hope this helps you get it back.
