Hello, good afternoon. But I have a problem when using Photoshop's Camera Raw Filter. I have the latest versions of both apps and nothing that is resolved yet.
What happens is that when you open the Camera Raw filter it is invisible or not visible, and all Photoshop is locked until I give it the Esc key. I have two monitors, I tried leaving only one, restarting the application, reinstalling and nothing works for me yet. Could you please help me?
By @movilcell_6227
The Camera Raw window is probably on the other monitor. It will open on the monitor where you last closed it.
If you cannot connect the other monitor, resetting the Camera Raw preferences should fix the issue.
In Photoshop, go to Edit > Preferences > Camera Raw. Click Camera Raw with the Control key pressed.
Click Yes in the dialog that follows.

Lightroom classic can't import a jpg file that's 30000 pixels long and 120 MB even though it has a limit of 65000 pixels and 590 MB. Does this limit only apply to raw files?
By @Ronan Liétar
How many pixels on the short side?
If it is more than 17066, the image will be over 512 megapixels, and cannot be imported.

If you don’t use ZIP compression for TIFF, then TIFF is not going to be smaller than PSD/PSB so there’s no point, just use PSD/PSB. Uncompressed TIFF files are huge, and TIFF+LZW compression doesn’t save as much as ZIP and in some cases can create larger files than PSD/PSB.
By @Conrad_C
My experience with Tiff compression is that LZW compression works very well with 8-bit files, and can reduce the file size considerably. LZW does not work well with 16-bit files, and can increase the file size.
For 16-bit files, ZIP is the best option, but it doesn't compress as well as LZW does with 8-bit files, I typically get a 20-25% reduction in file size.

Another option is to use Tiff, which has a max file size of 4 GB.
The Tiff format is widely supported, practically all image editors (and probably most image viewers) can open tiff files.

A monitor profile can get corrupted, but it can also be incompatible.
When calibrating, make sure to create a version 2 (not version 4) ICC profile, with a Gamma (not LUT) tone curve.
Adobe software tends to prefer these settings.
Make sure to relaunch LrC and PS if running after the calibration.
If this doesn't help, please go to Help > System info in LrC, click the Copy button, and paste in a new reply.

Difference in the display of the photo in LR and after export.
I've been having this issue that I don't understand, the preview of the photo being edited is much worse than the photo after export. In the preview it even looks like the photo is blurry and in the result the sharpness is great, this is leading me to make mistakes in the curation of the photos. Does anyone have any tips on how to improve this situation.
(translation from Google Translate)
Are you exporting without resizing (full size)?
Are you applying output sharpening on export?
Are you viewing the image at 100%?
If you are exporting without resizing and applying sharpening on export, the exported image will be sharper.
Please post screenshots of the original and the exported image at 100% view.
Do not attach the screenshots, use the Insert Photos button in the toolbar to insert them in your post.

The article you linked to is about setting preferences, not resetting.
An article about resetting preferences can be found here:
https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/reset-preferences.html
Resetting the preferences will not delete presets, but it may be a good idea to take screenshots of all the tabs of the preferences dialog before resetting. This will make it easier to restore customized preferences.

You have 15 plugins installed. Try disabling all of them, and see if that improves performance.
If it does, enable them one by one until you find the culprit.
I think Plugin Parameters was causing issues for someone in the past, can't remember the details.
I also see that you have two instances of it.

I don't think this is caused by a defective monitor profile.
The three little circles on your thumbnails indicate a corrupted preview cache, which contains the Library previews.
With LrC closed, go to the folder that contains the catalog, and delete the file whose name ends with Previews.lrdata
Do not delete anything anything else.
When you launch LrC, it will rebuild the previews as you browse folders in Library.

As far as I know, this is how the Before view always has worked.
It can only go as far back as the first step in History, and if this step includes applying a preset, it will be displayed.
Not exactly related to your question, but it is possible to right click any step in History, choose Copy history step settings to Before and use it for the Before view.

Hello Adobe Community,
I'm having a problem with Lightroom Classic 14.2.0.8 on Windows, and I've already tried several solutions without success.
Problem:
In the Library module, thumbnails of my photos are not displayed. I only see gray boxes instead.
When I try to view an image in the browser, it disappears and I only see a gray screen.
What I've already tried:
Update the graphics card drivers (I have the most recent ones).
Reset Lightroom's cache (I deleted the C:\Users\YourUser\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom folder).
Delete the preview files (*.lrdata).
Reset Lightroom settings by holding Shift + Alt when opening the application.
Reinstall Lightroom Classic (I uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version from Creative Cloud).
Install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2015-2022.
Disable the antivirus temporarily in case it was blocking any files.
Trying different catalogs (the problem happens with all of them).
The problem only occurs in Lightroom Classic. In Lightroom (cloud) and Photoshop everything works fine.
I would greatly appreciate it if someone has a solution or has faced a similar problem.
Thank you in advance!

This can be caused by a defective or incompatible monitor profile.
As troubleshooting, and as a possible temporary fix, try setting the monitor profile to sRGB (use Adobe RGB if you have a wide gamut monitor).
With LrC closed, press the Windows key + R, type colorcpl in the box and press Enter.
Add the sRGB (or Adobe RGB) profile, then set it as default.
If this fixes the issue, you should ideally calibrate your monitor with a hardware calibrator.
This will also create and install a custom monitor profile that will be more accurate than sRGB or Adobe RGB.

On Windows, lens profiles are stored in C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0
I don't know the location on a Mac.
You can delete lens profiles, but they will reappear when you update Camera Raw or Lightroom/Lightroom Classic.
I use Lightroom Classic, where I have presets that I use to apply lens profiles to some lenses. Not sure if you can do the same thing in Camera Raw.

With the new options for February 2025, it seems that you can directly see the backups by clicking on the menu Light Room Classic, catalog options, backup, but my problem is that in the main menu at the top left the option "Lightroom Classic" does not appear next to File, Edit, Photo.... I send a photo of the problem. Thank you

The Canon PowerShot A590IS is not on the list of supported cameras
I downloaded the file, but no Adobe application would open it. In the DNG converter I got "There was an error parsing the file".
RawDigger did open it, but reported a File format error, and displayed no metadata from the camera.
So apart from being unsupported by Adobe, there seems to be something wrong with the file.

I wrote previously:
Also take this opportunity to create a new catalog folder with only the files and folders you need.
The default location is in the Pictures folder in you user account – I suggest that you put the folder directly under C – C:\Lightroom Catalog – for easy access.
If you use the v13-3 catalog, move v13-3.lrcat-data and v13-3 Helper.lrdata to the folder.
You should add the preview cache as well – I cannot see it in your screenshots, but it will be named v13-3 Previews.lrdata.
Once everything is in place, double-click the catalog file to launch LrC, and it will upgrade the catalog to version 14.
You want a catalog folder with only the files and folders necessary.
Having other stuff in it leads to clutter and confusion.
I failed to mention that you should extract the catalog file to the new folder, but I did in my next post.
To keep it simple, do not add any other files than the ones extracted from the backup, it should work.
LrC will create the other required files and folders.
But you really need a new catalog folder, your current folder is a mess.
And LrC doesn't care where the catalog folder is located.
To create a new folder under C, right click C, choose New > Folder.

Launching LrC directly from the Backup folder is bound to create problems and confusion, and I strongly advise against it.
Creating a new folder and moving the appropriate files and folders to it is very simple, and will save you from problems and frustration later on.
Try the following procedure, which may also fix the permissions issue:
Right click the Zip file containing the backed up catalog, and choose Extract All ...
In the dialog that appears, navigate to the new folder you just created.

Before deleting old backups, you have to make a decision about what catalog you are going to use - v13-3 or v14.
If you haven't been able to locate the v14 catalog, you could in theory delete all v14 backups, but to be on the safe side, keep the two latest ones. Also keep the two latest v13-3 backups.
To verify the version of the backups, you'll have click on the folder and look at the name of the catalog file.
Backups should never be kept on the same drive as the catalog (if the drive fails, you've lost everything), so I suggest that you from now on save backups on the external SSD. Create a folder named Lightroom catalog backups (or similar), and set LrC to save backups there.
You set this up in the catalog settings. (Edit > Catalog settings)
Also take this opportunity to create a new catalog folder with only the files and folders you need.
The default location is in the Pictures folder in you user account – I suggest that you put the folder directly under C –
C:\Lightroom Catalog – for easy access.

The Nvidia GeForce GTX 645 is 12 years old, and doesn't meet the LrC system requirements.
It only has 1 GB RAM, the minimum required is 2 GB.
Even 2 GB is very little, I would recommend 8 GB or more.
Many actions in LrC are now GPU assisted, and Denoise runs entirely in the GPU.

Searched for "Lightroom Catalog-v14-1.lrcat" in This PC also in my remote SSD. This is what came up.
I see a folder, but no file in that folder by that name.
By @NSCORP - Mark
The .lrcat.data folder does not contain the catalog file, it sits next to the .lrcat.data folder, see the screenshot below.
Your v14-1 catalog file seems to be gone, so you have to restore it from a backup. If you have not been making backups (it's mandatory), you'll have to open your newest catalog, which is v13-3.lrcat.
Backups are stored as Zip files in folders with date names.
Create a new folder, give it a name, (like Lightroom Catalog), and unzip the zip file to this folder. Then double-click the catalog file to launch LrC.
Also, while looking around, it seems my internal harddrive is suddenly full (47GB/ 1TB left). In searching for the main culprits, it turns out to be Lightroom Catalogs. Could it be that my laptop just choked?
Can I delete some of these?
You are critically low on space, and should deal with this before doing anything else.
A system drive should have at least 20% free space, preferably more, which means that you should have at least 200 GB free.
The Lightroom Catalogs are only a few GB, and are not the main culprits.
If all your photos are on the C drive, you should move them to an external drive.
LrC will then report them as missing, and you will need to relink them.
See https://www.lightroomqueen.com/lightroom-photos-missing-fix/
and https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-move-lightroom-to-new-computer/
The relinking will be easier if you have exactly the same folder structure on the external drive as on the internal.

The image opens fine at my end in ACR 17.2 on Windows 10– by double-clicking it in the File explorer, from Bridge, and using Photoshop (26.3) File > Open. I can import it in LrC, and I also opened it in RawDigger, which did not report any issues with the file.
I made a copy of the registry earlier and hunted down every instance of rw2, photoshop, cameraraw that I could find and deleted the registry keys. I can restore it, but wondering if something needs to be a 1 value instead of a 0 as are most of the keys that I did wipe. I liken the registry (for me) to playing a musical composition and making adjustments without knowing music theory. The results certainly can work, but I have no idea what I am doing and dependent on rational deduction based on what I can remember at the time.
I have no experience with editing the registry, but the general advice is to leave it alone unless you know what your're doing. So you should definitely restore it.
Although it might not make any difference, you should update Camera Raw to 17.2.
Let us know how it goes.
